I just don’t see it being on an app & being a success. People also doubted that All In could do well, with just a YouTube show. And that wasn't even a conventional "wrestling program." An actual regular weekly wrestling show is even better promotion than Being The Elite has been. The thing with All In was that it was just a one day show. The real test is seeing how another promotion would do on a weekly basis. I really don’t think they can sell out arenas week by week especially if it was just on an app.

Id be all in for this approach.

You got the NJPW schedule as you mention, ROH does a major show followed by TV tapings Impact has a good thing going with their current TV set up, NXT tapes enough to cover until a Takeover over the course of 2 or weeks But yeah, there is no need to for them to run every week and in major arenas. Learn from one of Impact's biggest mistakes.

I don't have a good feeling about this. ROH seems to be going on a spending spree and they have the NJPW connection, WWE wants to sign as many people as possible and there's always Impact lurking around. Truthfully, I think the Young Bucks are one of the top talents in wrestling but I'm not exactly a fan of a promotion centered around Cody Rhodes. He's the king of the **3/4 match.

ROH don't exactly have a bottomless budget though. And while they have picked up some world class talent in Haskins, Bandido, and potentially Rush, there are still plenty out there. You have to remember the rumors of WWE talent that were very interested in jumping to this upstart. Don't think that they'll announce on January 1st, "hey we start next Tuesday!". It'll be the announcement of the company, and when everyone knows what exactly this company will be, that's when we'll see wrestlers with more interest. The rumor is that the contract is non exclusive, but holds priority over All Elite events. Cody and The Bucks seem like they want to work with everyone, and left ROH on a good note. Who is to say that ROH and NJPW don't maintain a healthy relationship with All Elite, at least for the first few months/years?
Plus if they don't have a giant amount of "stars" at the beginning, I think they'll be fine. Add maybe six more "names" to the list of The Elite and SCU, and then just hire some rising indie names. I think the industry is very desperate for an alternate to WWE. Ratings for RAW are in a major downward spiral, and they clearly don't really know where they are going right now(you probably should never come on to your flag ship show and say "hey this sucks, right guys?"). As long as AEW has a great outlet, and books good venues, I think it'll be okay.

A full on promotion and you become a rival no matter how amicable the split was. That's just business. So I don't see ROH lending talent to AEW especially when ROH has the NJPW connect, TV, and PPV all lined up.

It's going to turn into a fight over which promotion "with a TV deal" gets average midcard indie guys. Look at Impact.... they are trying to find a new TV deal pretty hard right now, and are airing on Pop "until that happens." AEW's existence in the weekly TV game is a threat. The other groups will look at them similarly. I'd almost rather see this all be a ploy to get bigger offers from WWE and we stick with just Impact, ROH, and MLW as the three non-WWE TV shows, rather than see it become 4 companies fighting over a lot of the same guys (all while WWE picks and chooses which guys they'd rather pay to go to the gym everyday in Florida instead of wrestle on TV for anybody).

I would venture to say little more than as a guest star like he did with Northeast Wrestling. He'll get his cut from that new Elite merchandise but I dunno how much he'll be on the AEW shows. I don't know if NJPW will be wild about him doing AEW dates though.

There are a lot of talented wrestlers in places like CZW,Beyond, Limitless Wrestling, Freelance, Glory Pro, PWX and Rockstar Pro that are not signed to Impact,ROH,or WWE. Hell there is talent in the UK not tied down to WWE either despite that huge spending spree. This is a chance for the Elite to build a brand and also build up talent

Has there been any news or rumors about when they'd be coming out officially with this thing? Not that I've heard. Closest to anything I've heard is that, per Meltzer, they tried to sign Bandido but didn't have enough firm plans for him to sign.

Just how involved in this is Omega supposed to be? That is the ultimate question. If AEW is non-exclusive, does Kenny stick with New Japan and work there as well? Unlike the others, he is not contracted to ROH, which does have restrictions on other American companies. Personally, I think it would be foolish for Kenny to leave New Japan for a upstart company. His reputation is heavily tied to what he has done in New Japan and without it, I think he losses a lot of value. Also, I don't see him as involved with other aspects of the company like Cody and the Bucks. I would guess that he would mostly be in ring talent to build their value. I think we get the answer at Wrestle Kingdom. If Kenny is staying, I think he retains at Wrestle Kingdom and he goes into the MSG show as champion.

I hope you are correct about him not leaving, for purely selfish reasons (I really like his epic New Japan matches; Cody and the Bucks I could take or leave).

It seems like these are more solid plans than many a fledgling promotion but as with anything in wrestling I'll believe it when the first show runs.

Keep in mind though, they haven't even formally announced it yet. As of right now it's still "unconfirmed", even though it's all but confirmed. January 1st is when they announcement will presumably be. So until then all we hear is speculation. I don't think The Bucks or Cody have told Meltzer all there is to know, and if they did, he won't reveal anything until then. He kinda made it sound like he was aware of the plans since All In when they talked about it a month ago on Observer radio.
