There's worse. There you go, 3 title matches all spoiled. At least with that one, you have the mystery of "what does Nexus ruin this time?!?"

While not as bad, the back of the Royal Rumble 2002 dvd/vhs listed the rumble competitors, in the exact order that they came out.

Tough luck. If it weren’t for bacon, “no spoilers!” Is the Internet’s most annoying legacy. I’m currently reading a book about Custer, no one tell me how it ends!!! It turns out Darth Vader is his dad. It was his sled.

If you're planning on buying the DVD, you already know the outcome, so why does it matter? So noone has ever bought a DVD (or BluRay or whatever) of a PPV they hadn't watched before? I have, a few times. Thing is, WWE spoils the results of the the next day on live free television. (They just don't usually show the major live results, but rather just still photos of it.)

While not as bad, the back of the Royal Rumble 2002 dvd/vhs listed the rumble competitors, in the exact order that they came out. The 2007 box set of the first 20 has every competitor for every Rumble listed in it. But then this wasn't as bad back then because it was before surprise entries became a thing every year. Tough luck. If it weren’t for bacon, “no spoilers!” Is the Internet’s most annoying legacy. I’m currently reading a book about Custer, no one tell me how it ends!!! There's a statute of limitations on spoilers. I am one of the biggest no spoilers people but if something's been around long enough I won't sweat it. Still, you need to give people a chance to absorb a movie/tv show/book/etc before just blurting out what happens. I've had more than one thing ruined because of that. It's just a matter of treating your fellow person with a bit of respect for a short time. If someone is complaining about spoilers 4 years later, tell them to eat a bag. Wrestling is scripted, though. If a movie had its ending on the front cover or on the back of the DVD, it'd still be stupid. Plenty of people say that stories are about the journey rather than the destination, but I definitely don't agree and I definitely am not the only one that feels that way. In the pre-Network era, if there was a DVD of TLC 2010 or some shit and I hadn't seen the show, I didn't want the damn match results spoiled because I'm experiencing it in a vacuum. It doesn't matter that you can look the result up on the internet or that it was on WWE's website the night after, with enough distance, shit that's old becomes new again to the new viewer. And knowing who wins in a wrestling match in particular definitely affects the match quality, because there's zero investment in any of the pins or kickouts from at least one of the participants. If I bought the Extreme Rules 2010 DVD (I think it was that one) that has Cena holding the title belt, then the main event of that show is a pointless viewing because any time whoever Cena's opponent was goes for a pin I know Cena's kicking out. It doesn't matter where it falls in the overall narrative. And even if you're not the kind of person who dislikes spoilers - and I acknowledge that I am a particularly allergic case; if I'm reading a biography for a long-dead historical figure I'll start ignoring any information about them entirely to try to make their story more surprising and interesting - then I don't understand why from a marketing perspective you would give away the ending of your show on its cover. Again, to use the movie analogy, why would you sell Empire Strikes Back with 'LOOK HOW SURPRISING IT IS WHEN LUKE FINDS OUT DARTH IS HIS FATHER!' It doesn't make any damn sense.

Anyone who still buys DVDs deserves this tbh We are a dying breed who understands that the companies who run the streaming services can give us and take away films at whim. (Hi FilmStruck! or rather Bye FilmStruck! ) They can't take my foot locker full of DVDs, though. I'm the same way. And the debacle that screwed me out of a tonne of Ultra Violet movies earlier this year just re-enforces my beliefs.

Again, to use the movie analogy, why would you sell Empire Strikes Back with 'LOOK HOW SURPRISING IT IS WHEN LUKE FINDS OUT DARTH IS HIS FATHER!' It doesn't make any damn sense. The commercial for Super Mario World spoiled the final boss and ending. I don't care if lol Japanese mags had the ending already or lol who cares about mario, I don't want certain things spoiled ahead of time for me. This is part of kayfabe. Movies sometimes can do this, like episode three being about Darth Vader as the journey being the pull, which was discussed by people openly on the movie..... How can you do that with wrestling? Even if everyone else knows the outcome, it's stupid for the company itself to do that. And what movies feature the ending on the dvd cover? Even in this age it would be stupid for the sixth sense to do that. One of my favourite things is to go back and watch old matches and ppvs where I don't know what is going to happen. Bottom line, yes results should be available on the website or online. But not on the cover. Casual or not, that just makes more sense to sell the PPV like the WM6 tape above, with a mystery for you to come and buy it. Save the cover spoilers for the documentary or solo dvds about wrestlers. That makes sense, because it's about a wrestlers climb to the top.

So noone has ever bought a DVD (or BluRay or whatever) of a PPV they hadn't watched before? Sure they have. So what? Well then not everyone who buys them knows the outcome of the event..

I doubt it is near as relevant today, but there were definitely multiple occasions as a kid where my parents rented me an old PPV from the video store and I didn't know or remember the match outcomes.

Well then not everyone who buys them knows the outcome of the event.. True, but I think it's a small amount of people who gets upset by spoilers on the DVD cover. It doesn't bother me, at least.
