Why can't movies just be fine? Not everything is either The Most Amazing Film That Ever Was (For Now) or The Most Horrible Film That Ever Was (For Now). Our options aren't only LOVE IT or HATE IT. It was just shocking because it's rare that critics are that "harsh" (for lack of a better word) on a marvel movie. I guess this is one of those films audiences like more than critics. It happens. Oh, the shock I completely understand. Some non-critics, though, came across as if opinions on the movie can only exist in extremes. It's so silly.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} If Starfox doesn't do a Barrel Roll than what is the point?

The only thing I remember is that in the comics Cersei got REAL pissed that Black Knight got hurt fighting Exodus. I only remember Cersei and Black Knight as Avengers, not Eternals. Sersi (comics spelling) was introduced in the Eternals and became an Avenger in the 90s. Black Knight was human and first appeared in the 60s. His uncle had been an Iron Man villain of the same name and Dane became the heroic successor. Of course his uncle was the villainous successor of their ancestor who fought for King Arthur. He had a comic in the 50s.

Just got out of it, it was….alright. Visually it was super impressive. I think I liked some of the characters more than others, Kingo got a number of chuckles from me. But it felt like one of the more serious MCU entries up to this point.

Just got back from watching it. It was so so for me. Not something I was clamoring for, but not a bad movie per se. Once it got to the last third, it finally felt like a Marvel movie. It was weird because the fight scene in the beginning and the one toward the end felt like they were from two different movies. Wouldn't surprise me if the final battle was filmed in post-production. Also, {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}the sex scene was out of nowhere. Considering the audiences this is aimed at.

Didn’t Zhao mention she was influenced by Man Of Steel a little bit? Because this oddly felt even more “DC-like” to me than even Shang Chi did. The more moody atmosphere and level of angst/drama, even with the jokes, it stood out.

Oh yes, the Cult now won't let anybody forget that "#SnyderIsTheBlueprint" after Zhao cited the way Snyder tried to deconstruct the characters in Man of Steel.

I know the mind rot is from the books and caused a lot of internal Eternal (lol) conflict, at least. So no one can say that this brand of character insight is solely a Snyder influence, it’s been going on in comics for years. Zack is far, far less nuanced when he attempts it.

I mean, we're talking about a fanbase that doesn't even read the comic books Snyder adapts, so...

It finally dropped on Disney Plus. Very average. Pretty, good performances, but overall a little boring. I would rather watch it than Iron Man 2/3 or Thor Dark World but thats about it.

Likewise, finally caught it tonight via D+. It actually struck me about 2/3 of the way through how much I was enjoying it - a great first 2 acts, and time for the development of way more characters than I was expecting having read the reviews.
Third act really lost me though. Started to feel a little silly, and near the end I could really feel a sense kicking in of just how many beats of the story had been speed-run. Average is about fair.

Just seen it.
Congratulations Marvel, you've successfully recreated the DCEU, including the sombre colour palette.
I cannot put a finger on it but my emotions ranged from "this is good" to "this is shit" multiple times.

Honestly I had really low expectations based on the lukewarm reaction I had seen online but I quite enjoyed it for the most part.
A bit less jokey and a bit more attempt at epic saga sort of thing which helped
I enjoyed it more than Shang-Chi at least. Not that that was bad, just quite marvel formula esq in how it played out
Also I had no idea what the heck was being referenced in the 2 stinger scenes. Thankfully we have the internet these days ha
P.S Really liked Phastos and Gilgamesh

The many British accents felt out of place.
I don't understand how characters that have been on the planet for 7000 years and lived through many different civilizations, languages and dialects across the globe would mostly settle for "Landan" English, let alone any one accent.
I thought out of all of them, Angelina Jolie captured "ancient space traveller" well by sounding almost accent-less

It was, okay? {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} One major problem is no explanation for there being ZERO response to a giant f***ing being coming out of the ocean. Even if you pretend like this was happening at the exact same time that Spider-Man: Far From Home was happening, the Fury on Earth was a Skrull. You mean to tell me Nick is only looking out the window facing away from Earth?
"But why can't these directors make self-contained stories without having to address continuity?"
Because, that's bad writing.

{Spoiler}And Strange can move army sized units anywhere on the planet in seconds. The planet was going to explode and no one cared to move? Eh, fair. Once you bring semi-omnipotent sorcerers into the equation it does make it harder to explain away.

Because, that's bad writing. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Your criticism about Eternals isn't necessarily wrong, and in the movie Dane Whitman calls out Sersi for her group not showing up when Thanos was wrecking shit, but your criticism also applies to every movie after Avengers 1 that has something set on Earth. Where were the Avengers in Iron Man 3? Or Thor 2? Or Captain America 2? Or Missouri in Guardians of the Galaxy 2? Or Black Panther? What you're criticizing is part and parcel of a lot of shared universes, especially when those universes get larger, more complicated, and last for longer periods of time. I'd much rather have a good story first, from a good creative second, about characters I like third, that all exists within a shared universe I like fourth. But with Phase 4, we're at the point that the tail is wagging the dog: people determine what constitutes a good story by looking at how the shared universe is serviced first, characters second, creatives third, then the actual story at the end. To me, save No Way Home and maybe WandaVision, Phase 4 has suffered for this, but I see and read about so many people who are into what I just described.
