This was a sure-fire no-miss angle. They even used the illness of a wrestler to pull it off.
And Vince still managed to screw it up. Why can't this guy surprise me with something positive?
Oh right, he produced the Saudi show. Sorry, I forgot, it's hopeless, they will never do anything good again.

The Dean Ambrose heel turn should have been after a slow descent into depression and madness, after Roman announced his illness.
Rollins is able to cope, Ambrose can't. Ambrose goes off the deep end.

I liked the part where he ran away from the fight like every other boring heel Vince writes because he’s lazy and complacent.

In the Raw thread, I called him Lunatic Mantis. Which I guess makes the other guy Solid Seth. Sgt. Slaughter: Seth, you maggot, you have to stop NXT Generation Special Forces Stable FOXHOUND. Liquid Miz, Revolver Riddle, Vulcan Roman, Lunatic Mantis, Sniper Lynch and Decoy Woods. Seth: Are Table, Ladders and Chairs, OSP? Slaughter: Yes...and you have to find how and to stop them from unleashing their plan to use a dangerous new match!! TACTICAL WRESTLING ACTION: War Games Solid

The problem with Ambrose slowly going into depression and madness is that it still makes the viewer feel sad for him, not want to boo him. That's really the problem with the angle as it currently stands, except in this case even more extreme. It would at least make sense though, unlike him just doing it the same night. As it was done it doesn't make sense given what was going on before that, since Ambrose was veering heel due to a lack of title opportunities. But then he and Seth won the tag titles, and then he turned heel.

I don't see how someone who lives in an old refrigerator box can be a germaphobe as well.

But then he and Seth won the tag titles, and then he turned heel. The fans don't want to boo Ambrose, period, so they probably shouldn't have turned him heel in the first f***in' place. But if you absolutely must turn him...the long decent into madness and depression makes him sympathetic, until he lashes out against Rollins, and anyone else who tries gets close. Have him beat Rollins within an inch of his life, maybe multiple times. During this, nobody can get a word out of him. He doesn't want to talk to anyone. Except Renee. He'll talk to Renee, and that's when he gives an explanation. Something along the lines of "Roman is suffering, I'm suffering, you bet your ass you're going to suffer with us." Something like that. This took me about 15 minutes to think up, so I'm sure it could be improved a lot. Maybe he goes to Smackdown to "get as far away from Rollins as possible" only to wreak havoc, and stress out Paige to her wits end.

I have no f***ing clue what they're doing to this guy. His initial heel turn made so much sense. His resentment towards Rollins for backstabbing him 4 years ago finally boiled over, and he was sick of Seth referring to him as mentally unstable. He snapped. That's a logical story. Then within a few short weeks, he's still fighting Seth but now it's because of germs or something? What even is This?
I swear, this whole thing probably came about as a rib on some random staff member who is a germaphobe.

I mean, it'd be fitting since The Dark Knight Rises is the worst in the trilogy by about several million country miles. What, you didnt like a bunch of cops and a bunch of armed terrorists with tanks inexplicably having a big fistfight?

The problem inherently with turning Ambrose on Rollins is that it reminds everyone of the initial feud where Rollins turned on Ambrose. Honestly if they wanted him to really be hated or booed the only surefire way to go about it is for him to be mean to Renee. Right now it's just so bizarre having her on commentary while her husband is in the ring dressed like a mix of Howard Hughes and Bane. If this was WCW I'd say she would have him committed to an insane asylum. If it was TNA she'd have him committed as well.
Basically Renee Young needs to have Dean Ambrose committed to the loony bin. If you want to do a bad angle, then do a BAD angle.

Mind you, she did it because Moose was going to have Eddie arrested and have him put away for a long time.

Yeah... the material sucks ass, but Dean's been getting booed. There was a small "One more time!" chant when Dean hit him with Dirty Deeds, but WWE fans would chant that during the Lincoln assassination.

I’ll say this, for as hockey as it is, it’s working. Dean is getting the most booed he’s ever gotten. The argument of they “never should’ve turned him” doesn’t apply here nor with Daniel because it’s clearly working.

I do wish he'd cut down a bit on the "YOU PEOPLE" repetition, but then that's probably on the writers and one thing I'd never accuse WWE writers of being is original.

It goes back to what I said about Ambrose making this work. He's getting people to boo him, he's getting the "one more time" chants, he's the best part about this angle as much as people wish he was different. Rollins is being cheered more but the fact is he isn't pulling his weight here mostly due to the writing. At the end of the day Ambrose's changes aren't the problem because he's making it work by having people boo him more, by having Rollins cheered more and by having all the talk be about him. It's the Roman exploitation and the Vince stuff. Either way it just proves how great Ambrose is. Yeah people wish Ambrose was different and all but at the same time if you look at everything in this angle he's the best part about it.

The argument of they “never should’ve turned him” doesn’t apply here nor with Daniel because it’s clearly working. Yep. Ambrose is special. I get people want him to be a heel they love to cheer but shit, I'd take him being booed and Rollins being cheered more than that. I'm done with people cheering people who need to be booed in angles. I'll say this though: by Summer next year Ambrose is going to be in the Universal title picture and he'll have honed in on this character to a level where people say "ok, yeah I thought that old stuff wasn't good but Ambrose is great now." Remember this post.

Yeah, as much as I like “my guys,” it feels good to hear them get the reaction that they’re supposed to get while also having a potential top face of the company being cheered as loud as ever.
