I have a bad habit of looking at the clock when I'm in bed, and worry if I'm not asleep in 10-20 minutes. I've tried turning the clock over, but I still look at it. How do I stop?

I used to go to bed at 10:30, but last year, I started going to bed at 9:30. Am I just going to bed too early?

It's possible. It's also possible you are also "waking up" too late.
I used to have issues sleeping until it occurred to me that there was another way to adjust my sleeping time that is often overlooked. My brain is wired to the sun. Like 2 hours after dark I want to sleep no matter what time a year. So in the winter I go to bed quite a bit earlier and wake up a lot earlier, and in the summer I get sleepy much later and wake up a bit later.
If you find yourself waking up at like 5am naturally but your alarm is set for 7am... perhaps just set your alarm at 5?
It's very easy to forget that waking up is a controllable variable. I just do some light chores, read or exercise in the 2 hours before I go to work rather than attempt to sleep until the last possible second.
