Raimi 1 is my favorite Spiderman movie, and one of my favorite superhero movies period. I don't like Raimi 2 nearly as much as most people seem to. Doc Ock's 'redemption' just came way too easy. It felt fake, and ruined the end of the movie for me. I will say the train fight is one of the all-time great action scenes. Ranking 1. Raimi 1 2. Homecoming 3. Raimi 3 (This could've been a great movie if it was just Sandman plus the forgiveness theme. He was a cool villain.) 4. Amazing 1 5. Raimi 2 6. Amazing 2 (The drizzling shits. People complain about Venom being clumsily forced into 2, but somehow Goblin in this one gets a pass? I hated everything about this movie.) Didn't see Spider-verse I dont think anyone gives any kind of pass to Amazing 2. its just the whole movie was terrible so Goblin being thrown in barely registers. There was some decent stuff in 3 so Venom stands out more.

I think the first two are still really fun. That third one...

I like how the first movie implies that when Peter becomes Spider-Man, his penis size increases significantly.

The first 2 do. The video game appropriated a lot of ideas from the movies that still work.

They do not.Mostly because of Toby awful acting. I think even with the Iron Man addition Homecoming blows Raimi`s in every category. Totally agree.

Peter and MJ were horribly miscast. Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst are both awful. They also had no chemistry at all, which really hurt the whole thing. Say what you will about the Amazing Spider-Man films, but Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone had magnificent chemistry.

Not to be "that edgy cool guy who spits on your favorites", but I remember walking out of Spider-Man 2 on opening night, thinking about the RAVE reviews it was getting and thinking "I mean, it was good and all...". I think a couple cool Doc Ock fights covered up a LOT of flaws in people's minds in that one. I was actively rooting for Mary Jane to be killed off at the end. Even with some of the acting horrors the DCEU has thrown at us (Dawn of Justice is on right now on TNT and JESUS, Eisenberg....), Kirsten Dunst is still my all-time least favorite performance in a comic book movie. Horribly written and lazily acted. Maguire, I'll give more of a pass to since the films took place in the "All teens are this 'emo' thing now, right? All mopin' around and whatnot?" but Tom Holland and every voice actor in Spiderverse easily surpass his Spidey.
That said, JK Simmons, Alfred Molina and Willem DaFoe were all great and just the sheer sight of Spidey swinging through the city at the time as incredible. But I'd have this trilogy as being better than the Andrew Garfield pictures (weirdly, I actually enjoy ASM 2 as a semi-camp romp along the lines of Batman Forever) but WAY below the MCU Spidey appearances and Spiderverse.

I think the first one is a very genuine film.
Is it perfect? Nah but it's real in where it's coming from. It doesn't make excuses for being a comic book movie like a lot of the MCU entries do. It's the closest a superhero movie has come to capturing the wonder of seeing this character truly come to life since the original Superman movie.

I left Raimi 2 really underwhelmed and thinking the Spider-Man movie franchise was gonna get killed because of it. I met up with a friend of mine who had already saw it and asked me what I thought, and I responded "man, they really screwed this up didn't they". He started screaming at me. Then I started seeing other reviews and I was like "did we watch the same movie?". It was just a really cheesy movie with clichéd dialogue, hammy acting and just no chemistry between its stars. It still holds my award for most overrated superhero movie ever.

I liked the Raimi SPIDER-MAN movies (yes, even the third movie, which is flawed, but I dug it still). They were great examples of what I like to call "Spidey Classic," which is the stuff I grew up with, so, of course I would like it. The AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movies....well, I really liked Emma Stone, and I thought Andrew Garfield made a decent Spidey. His Peter Parker, on the other hand.....ugh. Sorry, don't like my Peter Parker looking and acting like a dude that should be working at Hot Topics. And the less said about ASM2, the better. I liked HOMECOMING.....although, Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr. kind of stole the movie from the titular character (I don't blame Tom Holland for that, though....I really liked him in CIVIL/INFINITY WAR).

Say what you will about the Amazing Spider-Man films, but Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone had magnificent chemistry. It's kinda funny that the chemistry just wasn't there, given Sam Raimi had a pretty funny story of accidentally being a third wheel on what was basically a Dunst and Maguire date, with them wanting to go off to have sex. Obviously, this doesn't always translate to the big screen, but you'd think it'd at least help a bit.

I'm sure that happened a million times with Bruce "Hungry like the Wolf" Campbell.

Spider Man to still holds a high spot for me in terms of being one of the best Superhero movies ever.

"did we watch the same movie?"
This is in all honesty how I feel whenever Spider-Man 2 or ASM2 are talked about. The first Raimi movie was a great proof of concept, while not having the best casting with Tobey or Kirsten. I really disliked the second movie. The third was obviously a mess, and Topher Grace was a laughable casting choice, but I enjoyed it more than 2. Then both Amazing movies blew me away, especially the second one.

The first ASM is still to me the best live-action Spidey movie ever. The second ASM movie to me was always a mixed bag. While I'd take it before the Raimi movies, I hesitate to really call it anything better then "decent". The best description for it I can think of is "a good rom-com that keeps getting interrupted by a sub-par superhero movie". Honestly if it starred anybody other then Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as Peter and Gwen then I doubt I would find it all that watchable.

3 never held up. 2 was one of the first superhero movies to actually be good and comic-ish, will need to rewatch.

The one with Green Goblin-itis, a super villain playing his own dubstep remix, and Russian Mecha Giamatti?
