Well, the poll to determine the 2018 GINO Award Winner is up. There are 20 nominees this year Also since one of the nominees is rather political, please avoid talk of politics since people may hate that and this board will definitely hate that. monster-crap.blogspot.com/2019/01/2018-gino-award-poll.html

I think Slenderman is the only movie on the list that I've seen. Also, it was pretty crappy so I figure it deserves my vote.

I can't think of a movie that had a more severe contrast in quality between trailer and finished product than "Slender Man." The trailer was awesome, easily one of the best horror trailers of 2018 and made me more than intrigued to see the movie. But then when TV spots started to hit screens, the realization struck me that this would be nothing more than a typical teen haunting horror with no substance or style beyond the two and a half minutes we saw in the trailer.
That being said, my vote goes to "The Cloverfield Paradox." I didn't hate it when I watched it earlier this year, but time has not been favorable. It was a strong first half, with the world descending into chaos with monsters invading and the crew on board the spaceship figuring out what went wrong and where Earth went. But then the movie totally collapses upon itself with a villain whose motives aren't entirely clear, confusing writing and storytelling that is explained away by the laziest trope - it's the other dimensions, there's nothing more to explain - and a lackluster finale with a tantalizing, but totally tacked-on final scene.
On top of it all, it's fairly clear that this wasn't a "Cloverfield" movie from the start, it was just a generic sci-fi movie that they gussied up with a few "Cloverfield" easter eggs to sate the fans. It may not have been the worst movie of 2018 but it was the most disappointing by a fairly wide margin.

I had to vote for Wrinkle in Time because it's just such boring mess of random shit thrown at the screen... and it had a good book to be based on, had real actors and real money behind it. It was a complete and total failure.
Slenderman felt like it was made as the result of a double-dog-dare and would have gotten my second place vote.
