...and back again? Or vice-versa. I was having this convo with the owner of my local comic shop. He mentioned that it's unusual for him to have customers like me who ping-pong between the two as far as which is my favorite.
I was a DC fan originally thanks to Adam West Batman reruns and the Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans comics. Then of course the incredible Batman animated series. After that I discovered the X-Men and Fantastic Four on Saturday morning cartoons, and a big time love affair with Marvel happened.
Since then, I've sort of flipped back and forth as far as which side really engages me. The MCU had Marvel's hooks in me for a long time. Currently though, I'm really feeling DC. Rebirth has a lot of great books, the live action Titans was surprisingly good, and I'm watching a ton of their animated stuff for the first time thanks to the DCU app.
So yeah, anyone else experience these fandom fluctuations?

I've pretty much just always read a lil bit of everything. Ala carte some Marvel, DC, lil bit of Image, some Dark Horse etc.

Only liking one of them at a time is completely alien to me.

I've always read books from all comic companies. I tend to follow creators more than certain characters or a brand.
That being said, most comics being currently put out by both Marvel and DC are shit. It's a good thing Marvel has such great movies and DC has such great shows or I wouldn't be enjoying much or their characters these days.

I've never understood the concept of picking only one to begin with.

I never really had a favorite. I used to read DC and Marvel comics all the time. Some months one brand captured my imagination more than the other but I wasn’t one of those brand loyalty types. I was the same with my wrestling. I could watch WWF and WCW when I was kid. I never felt I had to choose one or the other. It was all pro wrestling. Wrestling was even more fun because it was always there every week and the characters could jump from one company to another. You didn’t get that with comics. It would crack me up when someone would say a particular wrestler sucked but the second they showed up in their favorite company they were suddenly better somehow. I never understood that mentality. Maybe it’s like the loyalty some have for sports teams. I’m not into baseball or hockey or anything so I never thought I had to make the decision to be loyal to a certain franchise or anything.

I've always liked stories and characters from both companies as well as from other publishers that catch my interest like Top Cow, Dark Horse, IDW, Archie, etc. There will just be where I prefer Marvel over DC and vice versa, but even when Marvel Comics or DC Comics are complete garbage, there's still the MCU movies, the Arrowverse, and other supplementary materials to enjoy.

Only liking one of them at a time is completely alien to me. It's less liking just one and more like leaning more towards one or the other as a favorite.

I have always preferred DC but I've always collected both. Mind, I buy way more Indy books than Marvel and DC combines these days.

I've always liked both, though I've preferred DC characters for a while. Still, Marvel's got some really great ones that I like, too.

I read the first year and a half of Rebirth with my girlfriend, when the quality dip started, I felt it was too expensive and dropped back.
I've never consistently bought Marvel, I've wanted to, but then Hydra Cap made me not want to.

I've never understood the concept of picking only one to begin with. I mean,i just enjoy more Marvel. I think the only time I enjoyed DC more was the Teen Titans/Justice League Cartoon era. I am also very casual in the comic,so I usually choose a hero I already like and most of then are Marvel. I also always disliked the DC Live Action series and movies. Which probably affect my opinion a little.

I used to read a lot of Spider-Man as a kid, and Spider-Man 2099, but that was rare. Currently i'm subscribed to DC and Batman: Rebirth and Green Arrow: Rebirth (which is coming to an end and i'm so pissed). Last current Marvel event I read was Secret Empire and Venom-verse. If anyone can direct me to any decent Marvel books I would be most grateful as I have been so out of the loop.

I grew up watching DC cartoons and mostly still stick with DC TV shows and movies, but I do watch Agents of Shield and The Gifted, along with Captain America movies sometimes. So I like different parts of both.

Aside from Spider-Man, I've always been more into DC.

My comic book tastes were pretty varied as a kid. My earliest books were X-Men, Batman and Archie’s TMNT/Sonic Series, then I fell in love with Superman and Green Lantern (mostly John and Kyle), then I got hooked on Captain America/Avengers books. I also read a fair amount of Dark Horse (The Mask and Aliens mostly) and stuff like Usagi Yojimbo, the Tick, various Disney books and NOW Comics (their Speed Racer book ruled).
The first manga I followed was Akira, which was pretty unsettling at my tender years. Still couldn’t put it down.

Mark Waid had an amazing run on Daredevil, and Matt Fraction had one of the best runs in ages with Hawkeye. Bendis also did some really good writing with the 2012 Ultimate Spider-Man series that starred Miles Morales.

I'm quite odd in that I enjoy reading the single issues of DC stuff every month, but I'll only get Marvel graphic novels. Dunno why, just always how I've done it.
