So, uhhh, the hell was that about?
Wrestling has a weird obsession with half-measures. This is meant to either be funny or, more likely, sexy, but it doesn't really work for either way. Bliss's reaction isn't animated enough to really sell it as funny, and it's not like the show anything that is especially risque.
It seemed like they didn't want to be especially gratuitous, and sure, you shouldn't be, but why even do this in the first place, then? Just don't be trashy, especially when you really don't *need* to be.
It reminds me of when AWA or TNA did those Evening Gown or Lingerie battle royals, which were meant to be pandering, but they filmed them like utter shit and didn't really show anything. The women still had to get their clothes ripped up, they just... in the AWA's case, they had some of the women just ignore the evening gown component and just wrestle, which it should have just been in the first place, or the TNA one, where they recorded a fat guy getting hit with a belt, while still having most of the women stripped off-screen.
It's not like they're doing them any favors when they still had to do it, so it's like if you had a Scaffold match, and just filmed Michael Cole making weird faces while people fell from the scaffold and opted to film that instead of the action. Why did you book it in the first place if you didn't want to commit to it?

Alexa's smoking hot and all, but what a pointless segment. I hope it doesn't become a weekly thing before her A Moment of Bliss segments.

I think kn had the correct read on the segment in the live thread.
Also “the hell was that Alexa segment?” applies to pretty much everything she’s been involved with. At least since moving to Raw and becoming such a focal point of the booking. She’s been involved with a lot of stuff that either made no sense or was just plain bad.
I felt bad for her in that little segment to be honest. That’s such an awkward position to be put in.

It’s probably something even more stupid than you think. There probably really was someone backstage who awkwardly walked in on her like that & Vince thought it would be hilarious to rib everyone on TV.

I said it was like they made the segment for dudes who keep posting pics of women all through these WWE live viewing threads. I don't get what that segment's purpose was, Alexa didn't look comfortable with it, it didn't feel right and most of all it felt out of place. Like, Alexa herself looked lesser in the eyes of the audience given she was caught off guard and I don't even know if that was the intention or not but we should be beyond this. We're supposed to be in this "New WWE" era but that was trashy. All it did was make Corey sound worse than usual and the announcers making comments about it sound like assholes for taking jabs at her. And something else I don't think anyone's brought up but it...made Otis look like a creep. You mean this man randomly interrupts a talk show because he's trying to holla at a woman who was half nude on live tv? That was his main roster debut? Bruh, on the real this guy's character seems like a creep. He's the face and that's supposedly acceptable given faces are "the ultimate good" in this universe? Man, it was dumb. |

it does seem pretty pointless and desperate seeing she shows way more when she wrestles it also made Cole & Graves look like total horndogs who’ve never seen a girl before due to their reactions to seeing Alexa’s bare back.I did like that Renee totally no sells it throwing to the movie ad like “big deal i see that lady stuff all the time”.For that to work they need to actually show her in her underwear and not completely covered otherwise it doesn’t get the intended effect.

We saw her back, who cares? It's like they decided to make a teen sex comedy, but the studio heads demanded it be rated PG. |

Thinking about it, this segment would have still been pointless, but it would have salvaged things a lot if they had Alexa tell the guy to leave, wait a sec, and then look right at the camera and tell them to leave, too. It'd at least add a funny meta element to it, and acknowledge that, yeah, the camera man is right there.

Maybe they're building up sympathy for her to lead into a babyface run? I mean, she's due a face turn, probably, but this is kind of a weird way of going about it if they wanted sympathy. Maybe if some heel had lied and acted like she wasn't in there, leading to the guy walking in and seeing that, it'd have built some sympathy. |
