I feel like comics always work better as self contained stories, and it’s difficult to invest in an ongoing series when the next creative team could just bring everyone back and reset the status quo. Can alleviate the problem a bit by looking at every writer’s run on a major book as it’s own self contained story, but I still find myself reading almost exclusively creator owned books.

Luffy you've been in the Grand Line for 12 years WHERE IS ONE PIECE? Detective Conan has been stuck as a kid for almost 25 years. He could have grown into an adult by now.

The Walking Dead seems to be going on too long, IMO. How many more times are they going to roam around, chased by zombies, only to find a refuge run by absolute shit lords and have to escape? Hey now, this is just unfair. At this point, they are the assholes running the refuges that other groups run to while being chased by zombies.

Death Note. It should have ended after L's death, everything else after that was unnecessary and Near was a terrible alternative to L.

I think the biggest issue with it was that they chose the wrong person to follow. Mello is both vastly more interesting and a lot more logical to bring Light down; it would make far more sense for him to be undone by a criminal who is willing to go just as low as he is than by L's less-competent Mini Me.

Not sure if you count it as a story but the Fast and Furious franchise.
The Paul Walker tribute at the end of Number 7 (I think) would have been a perfect ending..But nope.

They've all found family, they're rich, and can leave their past behind. Nope, gotta bring 'em back and start killing off members of the 'family' one-by-one.

While I won't argue that it was a perfect end to the franchise, the fact that more films are being made is because that was originally the plan. Before he died, Paul Walker, along with Vin Diesel, said that they were planning on doing three more after 7.

These days, I can't believe I sat through all seasons of Prison Break. They should have left it open-ended after the first season, and even that one drags on.

Overall, the second half was just an abridged version of the 1st half expect you have 2 people who are dirty versions of L (Not like L didn't do dirty shit himself tho)
You wanted L to take down Light but I can't say the same for Near/Mello especially when Light was more powerful at that point than he was when he was in conflict with L

One Piece, which will end when Ash wins the Pokemon League. Meaning never I realize that Pokémon first became a thing when I was in Jr High, and Ash is still a kid. What the hell kind of genetic anomaly does he have?

Luffy you've been in the Grand Line for 12 years WHERE IS ONE PIECE? At the end of the grand line, duh. But props to Oda,he still manages to expand the world.Even if there has been a few hiccups. But it does seem now that there is not much more to add in world building
