Consider this for a second; Remember that Orton/Cena staredown from one of the early 10s Rumbles that got zero reaction from a crowd bored of seeing them? That staredown between Nia/Orton got a bigger reaction than THAT. Like, it felt like a spot they needed to fill when other plans fell apart (which makes those rumors make sense) but to me, the fact they had Nia out there and it was the first time in a bit she looked really goddamn intimidating...that’s...surreal. I sort of hate myself for wanting to see Nia/Orton. Which rumors? Also the men sold for her better than the women did
Allegedly, there was a big surprise being set up for the Rumble specifically the men’s match. Now, if I were a conspiracy theorist, I’d say this was why The Rock’s odds dropped in Vegas because they were probably trying to get him in and promote Fighting with my Family at the same time. But the film’s screening in Sundance on Tuesday so probably nothing could happen, thus the backup plan came about. Yeah, the men made her look f***ing scary as shit. She took 3 finishers and she was still slowly getting back up. That’s f***ing astounding considering.

Everyone saying it should have been Charlotte...it was played for laughs a bit and she got beat up. Charlotte ain’t getting beat like that.
Also Nia looks better in that spot. Charlotte is tall and muscular. Hell shes shaped like Orton. It wouldn’t look as interesting.

The only reason I didnt like it was because Nia is not in the same league as Aweseme Kong (can’t remember her wwe name) and Beth Phoenix. Rhea Ripley I would have liked for this spot.

Oh yeah, forgot that whole rumor of Rock supposed to have been Roman opponent this year if he was healthy
Also yeah it's one of those things where she doesn't have to hold back on the men because they could take the hits as compared to the women where she is too wild for her own good
The biggest takeaway is they didn't want to hit her until they saw she was dead serious about trying to win the match and said f*** it she got to go

I really dug it and felt it was a nice surprise.
Yeah, it was ballsy of them to do and a backlash is always possible for obvious reasons. But I don’t think there will be because it was very cleverly booked. Nia was there completely on her own volition and had already brutalized multiple men, even using Mustafa’s unwillingness to hit a woman against him. So given that she’s already the most hated heel on the roster because of the Becky situation, AND given that there’s also precedent for this sort of thing with women having been in the Rumble match before, getting the crowd to cheer for her getting beaten up by men makes sense given all of the context surrounding it.

I don't really get the argument that Nia was the wrong person for the spot. She might not be the best wrestler, but she was over, she performed well, it's hard to argue that this didn't go well.

For a minute, I actually thought this was how they were punishing Nia for her recent sloppiness.

Based on the highlights, it seemed her only offensive attack is running her body into people/push. Pretty goofy.

It was more Holy Shit, she's trying to go after this shit forreal Yeah, it seems a lot of folks missed the story they were telling. Nia wanted to do what Becky did, so she jumps into the men's match. Everyone is apprehensive because they don't quite get why she's in the ring(in kayfabe and logistically, most of them wouldn't see that she jumped Truth). So when she eliminates Ali, THAT'S when the other guys were like "f***, she's in this match." It was a great babyface moment for Ali because he refused to attack her, and his honor was his downfall. Of course, he was just as confused as to why she was there as everyone else.

I can't stand Nia and I have no idea why she keeps getting these important roles. There's a handful of women who can feasibly appear in a men's Rumble and hold their own - Chyna, Beth and Kharma all were. Ronda certainly could. Nia? She's just clumsy and I didn't buy her as a threat at all.
The man/woman thing doesn't bother me - it only bothers me because it's Nia.

I get that Nia is pretty high on a lot of people's go away list but I don't see the harm in this. She's been a provocateur/clout chaser ever since the Becky incident; bringing it up in promos, trying to use it to intimidate others and I wouldn't be surprised if she uses this to poke and prod at the women's roster and Becky even further. She's the Real Man because she did what Becky and the others won't, etc. I mean yeah, it could've been Charlotte or Rhea or Ronda I suppose but then what?

I thought it was a nice fun spot.
Nia was booked as a killer, she looked great.
I can see why without context it might sound bad, but actually watching it I enjoyed it.

This must've been the surprise that WrestleVotes twitter account was talking about when they said "we won't leak it because WWE don't even know if it will work out".

Jax got a ton of offense in and no one "treated her like a woman". People got offense on her like they would anyone else. It helps that Jax was as big as most of the guys in the ring too
