The Rumble's rules make no goddamn sense and someone needs to win by exploiting them.
Your music plays, you run out, roll into the ring, roll out of the ring, go backstage, and do a crossword puzzle until there's one guy left. Then come out, hit him with a chair, and toss him. There is absolutely nothing in the rules saying you can't or even shouldn't do this. This is a totally valid way to participate in the Royal Rumble.
Because first of all it is INTENSELY frustrating to see people somehow not figure this out. And second, I'm intrigued by what would happen the next year. Because now, everyone KNOWS you don't have to stay in the ring. BUT, you have to get into the ring to eliminate people, and you can't win unless other people are eliminated.
What would this look like??! It'd be fascinating.

I don't care about the "rules" being bent as long as its entertaining.
Rules aren't important in entertainment compared to the story being told.
Wrestling has always been flexible and I find it quite fun to explain things away in my own head cannon instead of sitting there stressing out that something that's meant to be entertaining me and isn't real doesn't have as rigid rules as a real life sporting competition.

It would have made more sense if Lana and Truth had given away their spots. Like Becky approaches Lana and tells her that if she lets her take her spot, she'll get revenge on Nia, who she wants revenge on anyway. Lana agrees, the officials okay it, and then and only then is she considered an official entrant. And Truth trades #30 for some magic beans from Nia. Don't need a lot of motivation there, but it makes more sense than Nia just insisting that she's in the match.

Erik Rowan got away with it just fine. And it was dumb then, too. But Rowan never entered the Royal Rumble. He wasn't an official participant that year when he attacked Curtis Axel.

From the five 'elimination save' spots, to at least four different people going under the ring to hide/chase others, to the rumble winners both spending a good 5-10 minutes each on the floor outside the ring (Becky included), I'm really tired of them treating the outside of the ring like an extension of the ring as long as TWO FEET don't touch the floor.
It was at its peak worst this year, but more than anything the planning of these matches need to stop relying on the same spots over and over again to ensure that the guys and girls making it to the end get their powernaps before the end of the match. It's just tiresome and unneeded when you can make the matches so much better without adding this unnecessary technicality BS.
In addition to this, I also didn't like them redoing the Becky spot with Nia for the men's rumble, especially since it didn't make any sense. Like, at least Becky went to *someone* to get permission. Nia just jumping Truth and deciding she's in with NOBODY having a problem with it sets the precedent (kayfabe wise) that anyone can do that at any time and it's all good If this is your issue, it's happened numerous times before with varying degrees of official-ness, including with Sami Zayn last year. I've always felt it was kind of dumb, although I disliked the Axel thing more because you're not 'in' the match until you get into the ring. Curtis wasn't in the Rumble for a year, he wasn't in it at all. In addition to this, I also didn't like them redoing the Becky spot with Nia for the men's rumble, especially since it didn't make any sense. Like, at least Becky went to *someone* to get permission. Nia just jumping Truth and deciding she's in with NOBODY having a problem with it sets the precedent (kayfabe wise) that anyone can do that at any time and it's all good Erik Rowan got away with it just fine. Amusingly Rowan is an example of it not working, because they said repeatedly he wasn't in the match. I don’t understand why an eliminated person is still allowed to eliminate someone. It makes zero sense yet it happens every single year. It fluctuates, 1996 Vader eliminated Shawn, but because he was elimimated himself, it didn't count (I don't think he was supposed to do that) They change the rules fairly often and irritatingly don't mention it. Same as how 2001 had a ten minute long hardcore segment involving Al Snow jumping his number to enter, and seven years later Finlay getting DQed from a no-disqualification match for jumping his number and using a tiny stick as a weapon. Like, no lie, choking IRS with his own tie is more dangerous.
