Old white guy from the south in a predominately white industry is racist.

Didn't JTG also basically say Flair was a racist in one of his book? I recall he never named Flair, but he's hinted it?

May I ask when the Teddy Long story dates from?
I don't want to defend racist behaviour, but is it not at all plausible that these behaviours were inspired by the times in which they were committed, and that as time passed and we became more connected to one another and to information through the rise of the internet, that these behaviours/beliefs morphed and changed?

Wasn’t there stories of one of Flair or Charlotte’s many police visits where one of them were shouting racially charged things at the black cop who came to intervene?

Yesterday I literally had to explain to a coworker why Ric Flair is so popular in rap culture.
Not excusing him from anything, but the timing is uncanny.

I figured Ric Flair being racist was one of those open secret sorts of things where everyone knew but didn't really talk about it.

What's strange is that in Flair's first book, he seemed legitimately disturbed by Missouri Mauler and Brute Bernard's racism.

Yesterday I literally had to explain yo a coworker why Ric Flair is so popular in tap culture. Not excusing him from anything, but the timing is uncanny. There is a Tap Dancing Culture and Ric Flair is popular in it?

I don't really see what a person's pop culture relevance has to do with them discussing someone else being racist (and it's not like this is the first time we've heard of this kind of thing in regards to Flair). There’s only one allegation of Long saying Flair used the n word. It’s very disturbing but so far it’s only one, I haven’t read JTG’s book so there may be more I don’t know.

Teddy's stories were from when he entered the NWA. We weren't anywhere close to where we are now, but by the late 1980's we had sort of finally agreed that white people using the N-word meant you were in fact a racist so that apologetic argument doesn't wash at all.

Yeah I can believe Flair's racist, definitely. Face didn't have to say it for me to believe it.
There's different levels of racism though which is something many people don't understand. You can be racist and not be a "full blown racist."

I just sorta assumed that there was all types of abhorrent behavior going on back then. The incident, with Teddy, happened a long time ago. Maybe he’s a different person, now. But maybe he’s not. I think it’s best not to view any of these people as heroes. We don’t know the real people. All we see is the characters they play on TV. And that’s where I leave it

Even if Ric Flair didn't have a single racist bone in his body, considering all the shit he's gone through with drinking, drugs, and his sordid history with women, the last thing anyone should consider him is a role model.

(Serious answer, when was the last time that rapper was relevant? That Smile song from 22 years ago?) Scarface is a legend. And yeah of course Flair is a racist. I always found the hip-hop communities obsession with him weird.
