I thought it was interesting that Oku and Ospreay had been booked again already so soon after the unpleasantness, and especially with all the negative press that Ospreay got. I saw RKJ was in that match too, he must be the only member of the Knight family to not be involved with some sort of controversy unless I've missed something. Unless he was an unnamed person from one of the stories, didn’t seem like he did. I think what sticks out more about it is all the stuff Andy talked about in the podcast, both positively about doing shows and somewhat negatively about the accusations which just gives this stuff a bit of...blech overall, really. Like, for all the stick some companies got about trying to do October shows, I can look at TNT and at least say everything around them is out in the open and ready to be judged and accounted for. RevPro is a bigger promotion and haven’t done anything like that.

Yeah, Quildan is a bit of a strange bloke, although I don't really do the podcasts so I don't know what was said in them. It's not the first time he's made what I would describe politely as an error of judgment in his handling of a controversy; it's not even the first time in the past twelve months.

This thread needs some wholesome.
As you all know, Mad Kurt has been undefeated against various worthy foes but he might have finally met his match...Faye Jackson!
Follow where things go from this one...

#SpeakingOut was addressed in UK parliament during the adjournment debate about misogyny in sport last week with the clip coming out today.
Not going to put it up here because, well, politics but this basically tells me this is actually getting traction at a high level.

Oh and I just saw this pop up too, the UK government discussed being involved in pro wrestling back in 1965.
Again, the articles are out there and kind of crazy to think about considering...*waves hands around*.

It's interesting that there appeared to be a wrestler's union in the sixties too, that was affiliated with a performing arts union that merged into Equity. Equity was a closed shop union at the time so I wonder if that was part of what put paid to union membership for wrestlers.

Having looked up the transcript, there is one thing I think needs re-enforcing without breaking the politics rules...
Kayfabe was already known to be bollocks! Probably not even the earliest example.

This thing is getting some real traction now which can only potentially be a good thing.
The posts about the enquiry itself are in the thread.

So Ireland is possibly going into Stage 4 of restrictions, possibly Stage 5. Either way means there would be less people going to indoor events, one meaning none whatsoever.
Pretty sure there ain’t going to be an OTT show for the rest of the year...

Some sad news for any Schadenfreude & Friends regulars, the Frog & Bucket has been denied COVID funding because it hasn’t been deemed “culturally significant” and as a result, its future is uncertain.

I hate using this thread for news like this but it doesn’t seem like anywhere else suits but Pete Dunne said that former British independent talent Ryan Smile passed away recently and whilst it wasn’t said, indications seems to be suicide.
Smile was a controversial figure in the independent scene at a time but his run at the start of OTT’s prime as NLW Champion was one of the building blocks of the company’s rise to prominence for a time.
Rest In Peace.

It was also Ryan Smile and his Lucha Forever shows which brought wrestling to the Frog & Bucket comedy club, I worked for IPW when they took it over (although I didn't have any role in those shows) and it has now become Schadengraps.

According to the new easing of restrictions by the UK government, wrestling shows can start up again in England from December 2nd.
Having said all that, to any UK promoters that happen to come on here....please don’t.

I'm not even sure how you would, you'd probably fit about ten people into your average indy venue when allowing for social distancing.
I really, really won't be sorry to see the back of this particular episode.

So bumping this thread, there isn’t like there’s a lack of options of news to talk about.
I could talk about the whole New World Entertainment controversy which resulted in talent pulling out from the company in general after finding out the owner a) was trying to get dates with (very) young female trainees and b) brought on an Asian talent to “fill a quota” as described fo the person who spoke out about the former.
I also could talk about shows starting up in January that may or may not happen because of COVID.
But you know what? This thread has too much negative shit in 2020 so instead I’m going to talk about something happy;
Jetta and Charlie Morgan are engaged!

It's almost as if people learned absolutely nothing from the past six months. Apparently child protection and CID are looking into this berk. Serious question, did "New World Entertainment" ever actually exist, or was it just for him to put his moves on fifteen-year-olds?

The irony is that, according to wrestlers involved with it, they did have a safeguarding and COVID policy and sent it out to them so...the latter seems to be something that can’t be ruled out, unfortunately.
