I don't think any young people looking at the WWE right now would feel disconnected, it feels current. I really wouldn't agree with that assessment at all to be honest - it feels like a relic. In terms of the production, sure, it's all technically very up to date - although very dry and at times incredibly unprofessional - but in terms of the kind of television show they're putting on, it's 100% out of step with modern sensibilities. There's been a major shift in recent years, even among kids' shows, toward a much greater emphasis on continuity and ongoing stories, with more in the way of deeper characterization and foundations for future events. WWE meanwhile you've still got people who'll just go and flip the switch from, "I smile because I like you guys!" to, "Rrgh, you people never supported me even though you're cheering for me right this second!" like it means nothing and you have complete, 100% disregards for basic continuity and logic with shit like Rusev and Nakamura now being buddies with Lana cheering them on after Nakamura injured her not even two weeks ago, and when you do go for more complex storylines you get stuff like the convoluted, going in circles nonsense that has been the Ciampa / Gargano story that seems like it's never going to end. Even at 6 AM on a Sunday these shows' writing would come off as complete amateur hour and yet we're coming off them being deluded enough to try pushing for an Emmy last year. With Vince micromanaging everything, you can have writers that do something and an hour before the show, he changes stuff and it screws up the whole storyline and makes no sense. That and a mix of at this point from afar it doesn't seem like they care about the content at all, just the presentation. (as cold and uninteresting as it can be) I have just this image of Vince as this robot right now, no emotion. A sort of walking corporate entity that does the safest most boring shit. And he keeps going because stupid fools like Fox are feeding the machine by giving him billions.

I think a big reason is presentation. Everything is just so stale and homogenized. And the announces teams are horrible and make everything seem more lame than it actually is. Booking is obviously a huge problem, but anything presented in WWE’s current aesthetic, just feels sluggish. As I got older I realized that there was *so* much beyond the nuttiness and sleaze that made the Attitude Era work. Even the B-level PPV's felt special because of the individualized set designs. Everything feels the same now and has for a long time - except for Mania, which still somehow manages to feel pretty bland most years. Just expensively bland.

Because everything goes through the filter of a 73 year old white male who has known money for 75% of his life who has no need right now to make things cool. The End. This thread was over in one reply how come it's still going?

The Attitude Era was so big in large part because it was before the growth of the internet and social media, before streaming services, etc. TV was huge back then. You watched Raw or hoped your VCR recorded it. You talked about it in the real world. You couldn’t miss a show and watch the important parts on YouTube. You didn’t have your opinions swayed by the negative internet hivemind. Combine this with generational stars like Austin and the Rock and it was lightning in a bottle. But it aint coming back.

Poor management between Vince/Stephanie/HHH. Out of touch ideas. . Along with inexperienced writers, no bookers, and corporate "yes men" You can blame Vince 100% all you want. And he certainly shares culpability in the blame.. But if the TEAM of management and writers were any good, you would have good product. Vince has been around almost 40 years. His product was very good before. You're only as good as your team as well. No one is pushing/forcing to get their ideas across and sell Vince on the idea. Like guys like Russo, Patterson, Prichard, Cornette, Ross etc. did If its all 100 percent on Vince, I hope we see a "boom period" once he retires or croaks. One or the other. If not, then maybe it wasn't all Vince's fault. I don't think HHH/Stephanie are the "answer" either So while Old Vince has his share of there blame, theres plenty of blame to go around to others. They need to be held somewhat accountable too. I seriously seriously doubt Vince just sits at his desk and rejects every single idea that comes across his desk. If he did, he wouldn't any employees Vince has a reputation for micromanagement and for the most part, NXT is Triple H's baby. I'm not sure how much of it is him doing it directly, but at the very least he's hired the right people to run NXT and making it an engaging product compared to how sterile everything feels on the main brands.
Where does Stephanie fit in all this? I have no clue, honestly. But the hope is that when Vince finally retires or otherwise steps away from WWE, that Triple H can run WWE similarly to how he runs NXT.
