What does being a shit wrestler have to do with his attitude and him wanting to hold people accountable ? A guy's been in the wrestling business since 1996, I can't see what wisdom he could possibly have to impart. Rosa Mendes was also employed for 10 years. I imagine she’d have some wisdom and insight aswell. Doesn’t mean it’s valuable.

I guess he isn’t popular enough or he’s a bad guy for making people clean up behind themselves From his perspective I can see where he’s coming from I’d be like it’s like y’all are teenagers playing games and leaving your room dirty

Nothing. It just adds to my dislike for the guy. If I enjoyed his matches, I could maybe look past his martyr complex. Mark Henry is one of those guys that wouldn’t shake your hand on the first days you’d have to “impress him” and “gain his respect”... guys like that are the worst. Martyr? Lol I swear y’all always find something to gripe about There is really a complaint about a man saying listen y’all can’t show up late to work anymore and leaving the locker room dirty It’s not just this. I’ve seen a lot of interviews where the bloke talks absolute rubbish. A recent one was him saying we boo Rousey because we’re “jealous”... now I like Ronda but that’s absolute garbage lol.

I gotta ask... Where are you from? As someone from the South who's grown up with people like Henry and those who have grown in around that area, Henry definitely isn't one of those "boy carry my bags, you gotta respect me or else you can't eat in catering" types like you're suggesting. He's just a standard Southern black man who values respect and the business but on that same token he's extremely nice and would do anything for you if possible. I've heard stories from people locally talking about Henry and he's gotta be one of the top 5 nicest guys I've heard about especially in the South. He speaks his mind as well. He isn't one of those types where you'd have to impress him or gain his respect, he's one of the types that speaks to you and is nice but if you cross him then he'll give you a chance, if you cross him twice he'll be disappointed in you and not f*** with you, if you cross him a third time he'll walk up to you. The Ronda comment connects with this given he's so nice that he sees who Ronda's character is and even if she's done bad he looks past that and sees the niceness in her. If you look at a lot of his interviews (most of them) when he mentions people by name he's always seeing the positives of them personally.
So...where is this coming from? Where do you live? This might be a culture shock and you're not used to these type of people but most people who have come in contact with those from the South know the type of man this is. My grandfather was the same way.

For me, it's mostly the layers of bullshit it's all wrapped in. Instead of just helping hr have the resources to lay out expected behavior, with clear rules everyone knows about, they have Henry come out and talk all intimidating like he's everyone's stern dad or something. I am also skeptical all this shit is really a problem the way he claims it is. If you need HR to tell you to arrive on time, respect your co-workers and their SOs and to pick up your trash, you’re beyond f***ed. I mean, if the things he's saying are true, people are f***ed. I'd rather have someone who's job it is rather than a wrestler. Also, you didn't do this too strongly, but just in general: I'm seeing people looking at those of us skeptical about this and implying we somehow are totally okay with people leaving trash everywhere and being rude to rental car folks. And... no one thinks that, from what I'm reading.

Yeah, any Attitude Era guy talking about "bringing back the old ways" immediately makes me break out in a cold sweat, so....nah, Mark, go play "locker room sheriff" somewhere else.

Where’s Cody Rhodes’ tweet about how AEW lockerrooms are allowed to be complete and literal trash dumps. That just made me think of when someone in TNA (Aries, maybe?) said "Come to TNA, we don't give a shit about steroids!"

I don’t know what it is about Mark Henry but the dudes always rubbed me the wrong way. I seem to always roll my eyes at his opinions and interviews. Like the dude is stuck in the old days when guys had to be TUFF and he’s somebody who feels the need to keep “everyone in check”... like who does he think he is. He was a jobber for the majority of his career bar one “Thank You” run. I don’t hate the guy or anything. He’s just one of those guys I’d hate to have around backstage. He strikes me as one of those guys that thinks he owns the place and intimidates everyone to the point where they can’t have banter or fun. On top of that, he was a shite wrestler to boot. Even for a big guy. My biggest gripe with him came from that whole segment where Daniel Bryan chants invaded the whole Orton/Cena confrontation. He told the crowd to cut it out. That wasn’t the character doing that. That was the guy. I never liked him after that. Oh, I see we're back on the old "good worker = good person; bad worker = bad person" bullshit again...

No ones saying he’s a bad person for being a bad wrestler. Anyway I didn’t say he was a bad person. I just said based on his interviews, I don’t like the guy. If he was a good wrestler I’d like him more. See Shawn Michaels.

I just really don't get the backlash on this
This is Mark Henry, not JBL saying he's going to do this
Henry is from the attitude era. So what? That was 20 years ago and in the beginning of his career, he's been around a lot longer since then and have watched many people come in and out that locker room

Mark Henry, Janitor from Scrubs gimmick.
Mark: Door's stuck.
Becky: Maybe there's a penny in the door.
Mark: Did you put a penny in the door?

I will just say Mark Henry, but sometimes he is a Jericho in a small dose. He is cool at some point, then he says some "company always right" stuff and you get wary of him

I'd be sideeyes at this if Mark Henry was like another JBL or Bob Holly or something, but from everything I've heard about the guy, he is one of the nicest people in the locker room.

Yep. I agree 100%.
Just because he's from the Attitude Era and others screwed it up people are thinking he of all people will suddenly want to go back to the old ways with the hazing and other negative stuff. Forget about the fact that he's been one of the guys to try to clean the old locker room mess. Forget about the fact that he's nice in most interviews, quotes, comments and there's always a good word about him. Just because he's from then and because a few people don't like a few lines of his they assume he's like the rest even though he as a person is far different from the Bradshaws and those others who abused others.
Idk, that shit's lame to me. Assuming someone's the same as others simply because others do certain things is essentially putting everyone in the same bucket. Going by that logic I can say "well all wrestling fans are stalkers" because a great amount of them are even though it's not true. Going by that logic I can say "anyone with a particular avatar is a bad person." We can use that logic in so many different situations. It's just, nah that ain't it Chief.
When I made this thread I didn't think I would see these kinds of responses. I figured people wouldn't be lumping everybody into the same bucket. That's not the wave.

I think most people are just reading the quotes, which can easily be taken out of context. I listened to the interview itself, and if you listen to it, you know Henry is just talking about professionalism and respect and that he’s basically gonna be a frontline supervisor making sure things are kept in order. That said, I understand how what he said can be taken the wrong way. I just wish people would listen to the interview before thinking Henry wants to bring back hazing or wrestlers court or whatever other garbage there used to be. He doesn’t, people! He simply wants people to be respectful and professional, as anyone should be in any profession!

But yeah, as I said already I have no problem with this. He's not Bradshaw or Holly. The dude is laying his agenda on the table. Like we really going get mad cause he said he don't like people littering and leaving the locker room f****ed up on top of being late. Nah, that got to be taken care of because thank god the locker room isn't full of drug addicts but that doesn't mean y'all got so much lead way. Picking up after yourselves and showing up on time should be regular but apparently it isn't
He's not going to put his hands on people or yell at them, he's most likely going to write shit he sees down report it to Vince and let him put out fines or whatever discipline deemed necessary.

He simply wants people to be respectful and professional, as anyone should be in any profession! Like I said a few posts ago, the things Henry was talking about are things they teach you the first day at any job in the training videos. It's basic. The fact people think a guy who was against that stuff back in the day and was fighting the repercussions of it is suddenly gonna go "it's my time to hold the King of the Iron Fist Tournament now" is crazy lol. He's not suddenly going to be for the things he was against especially if he doesn't give any hints of that.

Some people online I've seen think he's suddenly going to go heel in real life or something. 'Yeah he was a face in the past but with these new dirtsheet reports we gotta have a hot angle so we need a locker room heel' or something lol. I don't get it. Like, this doesn't have to do with how well he wrestles or even that stuff about his opinion on fans and Ronda. This is just about cleaning up after yourself, not having any disrespectful arguments in front of others and just, just drama. It's like at any job. People aren't going to argue in the breakroom because if you do then hey you get talked to because it's not there for that.
They're at work, they're not at home. It's a job.
