Brock catches a lot of shit, sometimes rightfully, sometimes not, but he’s a special talent and if you’ve got him part time may as well have him as the champ. I really never minded it because the WWE books everyone like shit, why should Brock’s title reigns be any different? I still like the big lug. Truth. And it's technically not Brocky's fault that dumbass WWE bookers have booked a brand without a top champion FOR THE THIRD TIME!

Does Brock even have what you'd call a character anymore? No, but Heyman does. That's not nothing. Hasn't his character just become 'advocate for Brock Lesnar'? He's brilliant on the mic of course, but back when I was still watching he'd become like Orson Welles doin the peas ad:ultra talented person slumming with tired, simple material. Unless he's changed things up in the last several months he's still giving a variant on the same promo every time. There for a while you might as well have a Heyman doll with 6 recorded phrases when you pulled a string

Lesnar hogging the title does _absolutely nothing_ for that title and is only hurting the Raw brand long-term. My theory is that Vince McMahon is slowly and deliberately ruining Lesnar's overall marketability. How? By demonstrating what degree of degradation Lesnar will accept in the name of a paycheck. The longer Lesnar accepts Vince's money and allows himself to be trotted out to "go the hell away" heat, the greater the probability that Dana White or the owners of UFC will simply say, "Nah, we're good" to a Lesnar return. Thus closes that door for Lesnar. Then, per my theory, Vince will be in a position to job Lesnar out to just about everyone in the company. That's some long-term-af petty-ass revenge shizzle for what happened fifteen years ago.

The title was snake bit from the get go. Basically as soon as they unveiled it at Summerslam. Then Finn gets hurt that first match. I actually just watched that recently and didn't realize he got hurt fairly early in. Says a lot about him that not only did he finish the match, but he and Seth had a very good match. Owens wins the title, but that was secondary to HHH turning on Seth. Jericho catches fire with the List of Jericho and overshadows Owens the entire reign. Goldberg destroys Owens, then hands the title off to Lesnar and the title is just never around now. Then Roman finally wins it and has to vacate it 2 months later. Seth wins it at Mania, the first thing he should do is throw the damn thing into a volcano. The booking hasn't helped, but the title has just been cursed.

The List of Jericho was going on before the team with Owens. The problem was that Owens was treated like an idiot throughout the reign. Roman basically punked him AND Jericho continually throughout the feud with him and then Owens would win in a super flukey way. I will say the best bit of the entire Owens Universal Title run was the festival of friendship... which looked like they were going to have Owens go back to just being a miserable vicious prick again... but... instead really didn't go anywhere. He then lost it to Goldberg... which again the last thing the Universal title needed was to be won by a part timer that wasn't going to be around... doubley so because it was obvious Goldberg was losing it to Brock another part timer that is never around.

So your theory is that Vince has paid Brock probably around $50,000,000 by this point to ruin his UFC drawing ability so he can keep Brock around even longer and pay him even more to get revenge for Brock leaving? That Vince McMahon would be paying close to $100,000,000 when it is all said and done just to make it so Brock cannot make any money outside WWE?

Now it’s payback time for leaving us all those years ago, pal!” “Oh no, I knew this had a catch. What is it, Vince?” “WE’RE GIVING YOU MORE MONEY!” “...Yay?” “NO, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE HORRIFIED, GODDAMNIT!” “...Boo?” “That’s BETTER! HUNTER, IT’S STEAK TIME! MAKE IT EXTRA CRISPY TO CELEBRATE MY EVIL GENIUS!” “...what just happened?”

Does Brock even have what you'd call a character anymore? No, but Heyman does. That's not nothing. Even he doesn't really have much of a character anymore. He's basically been using the same promo since Brock beat Undertaker with only minor adaptations.

That Vince McMahon would be paying close to $100,000,000 when it is all said and done just to make it so Brock cannot make any money outside WWE? Yes. Curt Hawkins's first victory will be against Brock Lesnar. 8) I keed, I keed. Seriously, though, who knows what Vince is thinking of what Brock will do for the company? Lesnar doesn't really move the needle anymore; the real interest in the buildup to the Rumble this time around was in seeing how long Balor was going to last and how many F5s he'd have to take. If Vince is so hellbent on making WWE the brand and preventing the emergence of actual stars, why keep Lesnar around at all? Brock's presence seems intended to remind fans and the locker room that nothing they do matters except, and even this is questionable now, as content intended, primarily if not solely, to sell commercial time. This treatment of the product can hurt the company long-term, and almost certainly can harm pro wrestling as a whole. AEW's emergence offers both fans and potential advertisers an viable and potentially entertaining alternative and should be treated by WWE as a serious challenge to its interests. If all WWE can really offer is more money, but has no intention of increasing the exposure and marketability of its talents, AEW can easily offer less money (to an extent), but far more creative input and probably be able to sign away a good chunk of WWE's top guys and gals as a result. Not even AEW - if New Japan, ROH, or even Impact or one of the British indies were to offer more leeway creatively as well as a decent rate of pay (not obscenely huge but enough to live on and save towards a decent future), Vince will increasingly have trouble competing except on pay, and what's he giving up in exchange? He'll be left with a disengaged roster who won't reach for his illusory "brass ring", doing exactly what he wants them to do in front of empty arenas while TV network executives look for any loopholes to allow them to drop wrestling altogether from their lineups and forget that Vince McMahon exists. Brock is at the top of that pile of wrestlers who are disengaged from the company. Look up "employee disengagement" on Google and you'll find just how destructive it can be to a company. This was something Vince could afford to absorb as a near-monopoly. Now? Not so much.
