All three women in the match are more than over enough to carry this story. The heel McMahons/Authority define played out. They are sucking the life out of this.

They've been doing it for twenty years, don't expect them to stop now.
Becky was doing a great job of selling this match on her own. Ronda was struggling, but the WWE should just have given her a hype (wo)man to bounce off. Instead, we get the McMahons saying to themselves 'we're the only ones who can sell this story.'

I kinda notice Stephanie and HHH carry themselves like A-list celebrities. So to that end, they are "doing a favor" by associating themselves with this match.

I don't think Becky/Ronda could pull this story off with WWE's storytelling nor do I think they could have pulled a main event of that caliber off after like 22hrs of wrestling. I think with Charlotte being added to it they could pull it off given her style's best in this matches and she'd relieve Ronda with the promos and such.
The McMahons though, I mean this could have been done without them for sure. I'll see how it works out. They do give the casuals a "big time main event" feel but still. We'll see.

This match became about the Mcmahons and who gets the safety boat when this entire shitshow comes crashing down instead of our first womens ME.
Great.

It's been that way for years.

Seriously. In the 'real world' they would be seen as really bad bosses in every way, shape or form. They make a promise, then immediately do the opposite.
And I get that WWE wrestling is only 'sort of' like real life. I understand that by now. Pro wrestling in general only loosely follows real life rules and sports rules. And WWE is even looser in all that. It's almost why WWE is referred to as a 'parody' of actual wrestling. Wrestling/WWE is overall the best combination of real and scripted, in ALL of entertainment. That's the beauty of it in fact.
But there are times where they get it wrong. Like last night. That should not be how it works in the real world. Ideally at least. Becky Lynch was promised a match if she apologized. She did. And that promise was then immediately rescinded, despite the apology. So literally there was no use in apologizing. There was literally no point.
(I get it. Not all promises are actually kept to employees in the actual real world. Far from it, it fact. But how often is real life that 'blatant' about it? Would the Enron thing count? Or the Fallout 76 scandal? How many times would a bank promise new customers a bonus for signing up, then right after you sign up suddenly tell you 'actually no, now you owe us $300! And we're giving that money to Charlotte Flair.')

Here's what I keep coming back to: imagine hearing the reaction that the Rousey vs Lynch segment got on the night after the Rumble, imagine watching their simple and effective build during Survivor Series, and then thinking the Authority are needed for a recycled storyline that is lazy beyond words.
I'm giving this a chance but yesterday was not a good start.

We should really make sure it has all the MacMahons and Charlotte in the mix! Simple and pleasing is NEVER the right move!"

I'm giving this a chance but yesterday was not a good start. This is how I feel, completely unnecessary and also completely tone deaf to why their ratings and fan interest are dying at a rapid pace. Don't promise change and give us Authority Figure Insertion that was old in 2016 when you're promising NEW FRESH STARTS, this shit feels so petty and egotistical, it's like child stars and the parents gotta butt in and make it all about them. They can never just let something naturally grow and they constantly ruin it.

I must be such a dumb idiot for still watching this shit. Honestly, I have more disinterest in all other TV media. Pro wrestling still entertains me more than the vast majority of television today. (Incidentally, I'm waiting impatiently for baseball season to start, just so that there's something for me to watch on a nightly basis.)

They have to be involved in EVERYTHING. I’m sick of it.
The Invasion The Summer of Punk Daniel Bryan’s rise Seth Rollins’ rise “The Women’s Revolution” couldn’t be a thing without them making t look like it was all Steph’s doing
And now this.
They couldn’t just have Becky and Ronda in a blood feud. No. They had to have Stephanie doing her usual bullshit to “put over” a woman who is already over. This wasn’t needed. Literally nobody was asking for Austin vs McMahon part 45839 and yet here we are. It’s like they think every top face has to be a “rebel against the machine”... they tried it with Reigns, Punk, Bryan, Rollins and now Becky. It’s tiring man.

It's genuinely a bummer that they honestly believe this is necessary and that they're doing Becky a favor by getting involved in the story.

Well...you can't say that WWE are treating male and female programs differently anymore. Heh. My take? Becky's going to end up fine and look like a million bucks come WrestleMania. The formula is dated and tired but everyone is going to be ecstatic once she's holding the title up to close the show. The buildup is going to kind of suck though.

one of these days I wish one of these storylines end up the way this almost did where the face apologizes for the wrongdoings and the mcmhaons just do a "ok then we're good- have a geat match" the face says "really? that's all." and HH/whoever is all "yup good luck." and that's it. meanwhile the face spends the next several weeks wondering when the other shoe would drop, and it never does.
