Comparable to Haku in terms of apparently being one of the most real world tough guys in pro wrestling-yet you would never know it if you met him personally. Guy played the cowardly scammer in WCW, yet has a reputation for laying out men twice his size. Anyone got some particular Norman Smiley stories?

It's the Adrian Street Syndrome. The least likely guy you'd ever think is the one who will make you wish for the sweet release of death.

Karl Gotch trained him. Yes that Karl Gotch. Its the nice and non assuming guys who don’t brag that you don’t mess with. Reminds me of Mick Foley talking about Stan Hansen, that the toughest guys don't feel like they have to be constantly proving that they're tough.

When Dick Slater was asked what happened between him and Sting, he just said that they had a little disagreement, but they straighten it out. He never bragged a out beating the f*** out of him.

The dude could pulverize half the locker room, but you never hear about Brock taking liberties with anyone. Hell, Austin has said that Brock is light as a feather to work with. As far as "nice" is concerned, I think Brock is just kind of a weird dude when it comes to social interactions. I legit think he's shy on some level, or at least very private. Only time I've ever thought "That's weaksauce, Brock" was the Ambrose thing, and no one's sure if that was more Brock's camp or Vince. I think Brock is probably just more comfortable being a meathead asshole when the cameras are rolling (see UFC) and what you get behind the scenes is something different entirely. His interactions with Taker when he's not "on" are so bro-tacular they belong in Top Gun outtakes. On a side note, I now really, really want to see a match between Brock Lesnar and Stan Hansen.

Nobody wants to take a chance, no matter how remote, of Norman doing the Big Wiggle astraddle their unconscious body.

Karl Gotch is called Kamisama, the god of wrestling, not because he taught how to take bumps or cut promos, but because he thought you how to cripple people.

When Jericho and Cody were talking about CM Punk's "locker room leader" nonsense, Jericho said "If Kane tells me to pick up my trash, he's 7 feet tall and 300 lbs of muscle, I'm picking up my trash." Considering Jericho has had no problem in the past facing off with the likes of Goldberg and Lesnar in the locker room, the fact that he didn't want to even think about f***ing with Kane says something.

As an aside, on paper the PC sounds terrifying due to learning trees the teachers come from: Regal from the Snake Pit/Classic World of Sport, HBK who can do territory, WWE style, Smiley from Gotcha and Lucha, NJPW Dojo from Albert and I'm sure I'm forgetting others but on paper, there should be in ring monsters coming out of Orlando.

Regal is not from the Snake Pit, he’s no hooker, he’s still tough though. You could learn how to really fight in the PC, except from Shawn Michaels, his record is 0-infinite.

Yeah, insofar as I know, most of the branches of the Lancashire catch tree are in Japan, now. Suzuki, Sakuraba, etc. The only guy in the states that I can think of that comes with legit Snakepit training is Josh Barnett, and he'd be hell on a WWE wellness policy.
