Here’s your yearly reminder that Orton once was chased out of the arena by Cena and carjacked a minivan and Cena just walked back into the arena. It was never mentioned again.

Possible the most forced rivalry. Vince always loved the idea his two golden boys had some epic rivalry when no one cares about then facing each other

Haven't they had like three "LAST TIME EVER!" matches? I remember the Rumble 2014 match being hyped as their last match, then they had one on Raw that was supposed to be the last and I wouldn't be surprised if that SDL match also got that treatment. lol

I think it was, "First time ever on SmackDown!"

But, now that you mentioned it, I'm worried we're going to get Cena/Orton this year.

Edge will always be Cena’s best rival.
And Christian will always be Orton’s.

It is brought up every time Orton versus Cena is discussed, but they have far more chemistry as teammates than opponents, with the times they've been "forced" to team together actually being a lot of fun, with them doing tag team versions of their finishers.
In a better world, they were some Mega Powers team for a year or two, and the blowoff might have had some actual heat for a change, compared to their later feuds which just were met with a collective meh.

Cena has no one to take on at Wrestlema... oh nooo. I would love to see the audience reaction to Orton vs. Cena at Mania 35, considering it will be held in front of the most jaded audience possible (traveling fans and Tri State area fans), who may potentially be very cranky at hour #4 of the main show in near freezing temperatures.

Let's compare Cena/Orton to Orton/HHH. Which feud do you think produced better matches?

Let's compare Cena/Orton to Orton/HHH. Which feud do you think produced better matches? I'm going to say Orton / Cena in that I can at least think of some good matches mixed in there, like their second Hell in a Cell. Orton and Triple H have no chemistry whatsoever.

My favorite Cena/Orton moment was the video package they set to Letters From The Sky by Civil Twilight in '09, which... is the most romantic song I've seen used for a WWE feud lol

It managed to make their rivalry look like one of the greatest ever when it really wasn’t,

Does everyone remember the incredibly homoerotic bit of a no disqualification match, where Orton tied Cena to the ringposts and beat him with a kendo stick? Sizzling.
