Meh, I still don't see it. Of the New Day, Big E's clearly the money dude. Why he's made his career subordinate to Kofi's, I'll never get.

Didn’t we all want Bryan vs. Ali as recently as last week? Nope. We all didn't want that. Many of us were saying Kofi in other threads. Ali will get his time, he just needs time to grind a bit. Won't be surprised if he's champion at the end of next year's WM.

Remember when this exact scenario happened a few years back with DB and Santino in the Chamber?

Bryan-Santino 2.0. Nothing new. I really don't think they'd have ended the show on Kofi looking so downbeat, with the Mania sign directly behind him, if they weren't going somewhere with it. If it were just like Santino they could've easily ended on the Women's Tag match. Where they're going with it is "Pancakes".

I'll tell you why Kofi over Big E. Do you think there's any way Big E. is putting in efforts like the gauntlet on SD or this Chamber match tonight? The New Day are a sleeping giant of a faction in a way. They've been goofs for so long that people have forgotten that they are terrific wrestlers, a point which Graves mentioned tonight. Segue them more into a serious role while still being over and you could really have something.
I mean why not put the belt on Kingston at WM? It's not like SD is building to anything important anyway. Let the guy have his moment in the sun, put the tag belts on Woods and Big E. in one final epic vs. the Usos, and they can all celebrate as the show ends.

Feels more like a repeat of Santino than the birth of a new main eventer. I got an icky feeling Vince is gonna get Cena #17 at WM over Bryan.

It was an impressive showing but I doubt it’ll leading to anything. Maybe a match at fastlane but that’s it.

Not everybody HAS to be a World Champion "RIGHT NOW" just because they had a hot month. People have been wanting Kofi to have the title for YEARS. It's just that right now is the first time they've ever put him in a position where he might actually pull it off. That's why people are so invested. And it's not like any of the other faces on SmackDown have any more going for them than Kofi does. The only one that's gotten any build over the past year is AJ and AJ / Bryan has been done to f***ing death.

Yeah, but again, not everybody has to be World Champ. Kofi's had some focus on a hot month. Good for him. No need to pothole long term plans for it, though, especially since he's only getting the push cause Ali got hurt.

Let's stop comparing him to Santino cause this ain't it
Nobody is projecting Kofi as a long term champ but a transitional reign is perfect for him even if he gives it back to DB, his story is at an apex right now and something WWE could strike on

What "story"? "The other dude got hurt so here I am" isn't a story. It's like I said, he's had a hot month and some focus. Nothing to lose our shit over. He's in Ali's spot, that's all this is.

I find it hard to believe Bryan is not saying “I want Kofi at Mania and I want to put him over for the belt”. Bryan is a wrestling genius and knows the best story.

The commentary booth hammered it home how after 11 years Kofi is finally getting his shot at the title, Kofi said to AJ on SD don't treat me with sympathy, fight me because I worked damn hard to get here now and i'm taking advantage of this moment
Let's not act like injuries and outside factors can't change bookings. There is no credible contender on SD for DB on the babyface side and the crowd is fully behind Kofi. At this point it's more why not and i'm saying this as a person who never had any belief Kofi is champ
This hot month can get him a little 2 month reign as champ, this isn't a thank you, the crowd legit want to see him win and his hot stretch is the best stretch he's had in his storied career

It's so obvious that it should happen that I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen, but in the past five days Kingston has become the man that should dethrone The NEW Daniel Bryan, and if they were ever going to pull the trigger on finally putting the strap on Kofi this is the time.
I don't think anyone expects him to have a nine month run with the title, but a three to four month reign before Smackdown moves to FOX in the Fall would be a perfect for freshening things up.
Put it on him at "Wrestlemania" and let him hold it through "SummerSlam," then put it on a transitional heel before switching it to whomever the "face" of Smackdown is going to be on the first episode on Fox.

Give Kofi that f***ing belt at Mania. Just do it. Anything else would be a total waste of everything that's happened tonight.

I really think anyone else they tried to put in that position at this point would have the crowd turn on them. Miz, Jeff, Rey, AJ, and Cena are your options and I think any one of them would get the Mysterio in the Rumble response to taking this from Kofi.

Won't be surprised if he's champion at the end of next year's WM. Yup. Ali's cool, but he doesn't have the career and genuine love from folks that Kofi does right now. When you've got an 11 year underdog story and everyone is going apeshit for it, you don't throw it aside.
