Is he trying to circle the wagons against WWE guys trying to strike out on their own or some stupid shit or just saying that the indies are the place to be right now?

Well when you go around backstage trying to get everyone to shake hands with beef, you're going to get treated like crap.

The more names that there are on the indie circuit means more opportunities for better paydays for everyone.

Just my opinion, but as an extra, he went out of his way to ruin a spot of Mark Henry slamming Sheamus through a barricade by giving a goofy reaction so I can see him being perceived as a jerk.

He’s lucky he wasn’t an “extra” when Iron Sheik was shoot camel clutching guys just for kicks.

Joey Ryan should make a business out of saying dumb shit on twitter.

I don’t have a negative opinion on Joey in the least, but this seems like a reach, and I’ve seen quite a few ex-WWE guys calling him out about this.

Good god. I just watched this clip, and this should get in one of those “10 Times Background Actors Ruined A Scene” type lists. He was doing everything possible to get focus on himself there.

Joey Ryan should make a business out of saying dumb shit on twitter. It's basically how he's made a living for the past 5 years or so. Well, wrestling..... but social media is part of it.

Gonna be real awkward if he gets booked against a WWE Guy and has to beg them to sell for his penis.

I think you guys are overreacting a tad. It's pretty obvious he's talking about how the business has changed. Doesn't seem like much of a dig at all to me, but I guess people like to get worked up...

It's amazing what some of you will find to complain about. I watched the clip, and 2 things popped out about it: 1. I would have never even noticed that Joey Ryan was in the crowd if I didn't know that I was looking for Joey Ryan, that's how little focus is on him. 2. His reaction is in no way distracting or takes away from the moment. In fact, it looks like exactly the kind of reaction that WWE looks for in the crowd to get tight shots of in those moments. He probably gave them exactly what they wanted. If that wasn't Joey Ryan, nobody would have anything to say about that.

I took it to be the latter, that WWE talent were set up to resent the indie folk, but now want in. Pretty much, though I do imagine there can be some drama out there if the market gets flooded, so to speak, and it's possible that's in his mind, too. Worst case, though, this is fuel for a match against Tye Dillinger or whomever whenever they make their way to a promotion like Bar Wrestling.

True, it might just be a setup for that, not unlike how Ospreay had a match with Vader, either to capitalize on their beef, or the beef was to promote a match to have happen. Can't put either past wrestlers.

I wouldn’t call AEW indie money. Tony Khan is the son of a billionaire and he’s done well enough for himself to hand out a lot of big contracts. Back in the day wrestlers referred to a guy like that as a money mark. Just about everyone is looking for easy money and to work less. This isn’t a hotdog and a handshake payday. It isn’t a few hundred bucks if you’re lucky either. They’re handing out some serious money. Will Ospreay bragged about making so much money with New Japan yet he had to ask fans for money for a van for his mother. He couldn’t even ask his successful friends or co-workers to borrow some money. Maybe he could have but he didn’t. Anyone scoring those AEW deals probably won’t be asking fans for money. This isn’t indie level money he’s talking about.
