Real question: How many women, in the past 30 years, have been involved in WWE in a production capacity, as a writer, as a road agent, or as a booker (besides Stephanie)? Sara Del Ray, Sarah Stock, and I think Serena Deeb are trainers; Ivory was a trainer for Tough Enough...and it gets slim and shady after that. I don't think it's a coincidence that the modern era of finally taking women's wrestling seriously coincides with the employment of Sara Del Ray, and people like Dusty Rhodes, William Regal, Hunter, and many others listening to her input backstage. Oh no it's definitely intentional. Sasha came into developmental right around when Del Rey did, and she admits in interviews she was told to 'wrestle like a diva' and Del Rey was having none of that. Once a class of women trained to wrestle came up and earned the platform to wrestle, they were an immediate success. It's not that the likes of Charlotte and Sasha were just the first women deemed good enough to be treated seriously, they were the first women to be given the opportunity from their developmental days onward to have a chance.

I will contend that a woman hired for her looks who then wanted to train to become at the very least a competent wrestler and was denied, was also held back however. Just become someone is hired for their looks does not mean that is the only thing they desire out of a job. If they try and fail, fair enough, but they should at least be allowed to try. And you have women like Michelle McCool, Layla, and Eve, who got good in the ring, got hired through the Diva Search, and while WWE will bring them back to be a talking head or in a battle royal, they're always ignored when talking about the history of the women in the company. The WWE covers it as Trish and Lita, and then a period of darkness where it was pretty much just the Bellas. WWE just doesn't want to say "We f***ed up. We had a period of time where we pretty much only cared about how the women looked. The Diva Search did give us Eve Torres, Michelle McCool, Layla, and Candice Michelle, who all became solid wrestlers, but we didn't care, they still couldn't get more than 10 minutes for a match, and we didn't allow them to have better matches than the guys. We had women like Kelly Kelly, who somehow got really popular, but we didn't care. We still gave the division 15 minutes at most combined between all the shows. The failings of that time period, that was on us. We should have done a lot better for them." They admit that, and they take away some of the complaints about how they're pushing the "Revolution", it's them admitting a mistake.

I do think the argument can be made that WWE has largely dropped the ball on pushing women while at the same time social norms are changing to the point when you can promote a woman as a Main Event level star that can sell merchandise to both men and women, and not have it be some referendum on masculinity.

Paige was interviewed again last night, and when asked about the WWE’s previous use of black face, she claimed it was because we, the fans, demanded it.
Ok that didn’t happen but now I want Paige to retcon every bad thing the WWE did by blaming the fans for it.

WWE can never decide if the opinions of the fans are irrelevant or whether they guide the booking of the product.
It greatly depends on which horseshit narrative they want to advance at any given time.

Paige: "After Hulk Hogan slammed him at Wrestlemania 3, Andre the Giant died within days." Paige: "Degeneration X was really the first real stable in pro wrestling. After they got big, you started to see copy cat groups like the NWO and the Four Horsemen."

I'm a little confused as to what is even being done with Paige right now. Since the "You are the Authority" speech, she fell into a black hole or something even though she has that movie out. I would think they would want to be using her in angles.

This has annoyed me a lot f*** Paige blaming the fans for not taking womens wresrtling seriously when you got the womens title you got some dude to spunk on it.
People were ready for women's wrestling in TNA when Gail Kim and Kong were stealing the show before you even set foot in wwe and then you proceeded to have a few forgettable matches then just started doing cocaine.

Its like if someone shat in the world cup That means Ric Flair has shat on the world title and men's wrestling too. Wrestling is like the most sexed up locker room in all of sports, if they ever put all championships under a blue light, you're bound to find things.

Its like if someone shat in the world cup How does Paige being privately horny factor into the public not taking the title seriously? By the time that video leaked the NXT Women's Title was already a big deal and it hurt none of its value, and WWE was already in the process of putting more effort into womens' wrestling. These things have literally nothing to do with each other.

I just feel the need to say that if I had a WWE title/superbowl ring/stanley cup/Olympic Medal/*insert equivalent reward here* I don't think I would ever have sex again without wearing it or at least holding it at the same time.
You could also replace "have sex" with going to the movies, eating breakfast in my underwear and visiting my local library.

Let's keep it 100, if we had the title, we'd only enter the bedroom if our entrance music was playing.
