People's personal contempt for Ryder baffles me almost as much as their personal contempt for Ziggler. Well Zack was buried, while Dolph was self inflicted. It doesn’t help that he complains non stop. Nope,Ziggler was buried many times when he got over and Zack bitched as much as Dolph. The only difference ebtween the two is that one gets pushed in the midcard and the other is an upper-jobber.

I think all the "elite" teasing is the workers looking out for each other and getting the office to believe they're thinking about leaving. Whether they are or they aren't.

He's a solid, fun worker. The most impressive thing about Ryder, though, is his ability to maintain a pretty high level of popularity despite the dog-shittiest of dog shit booking or just not being used at all for extended periods of time. Those things aren't unrelated though... I think a big part of his popularity has always been that he's had a raw deal from the powers that be. If he suddenly started to be pushed consistently, people would lose interest pretty quickly.Perhaps. Its been quite a while since he's had any kind of sustained push. I agree that being wasted is kind of a part of his character, I just don't think there are a lot of people who would stay as popular as he has despite the company telling the audience that he really doesn't matter for most of his 10 year run. He has a degree of bad booking armour and a connection with the audience similar to *Finn Balor. * - I'm not suggesting he's as good as Finn.

That actually explains a lot about why Ryder interfered in that Orton / Kane Falls Count Anywhere match. That was a lot better continuity than WWE would usually have.

In his most recent opportunity to leave a good impression the audience he botched spelling his own name. I thought that made it seem even more real. Instead of delivering a stilted, scripted line, he was so overcome with frustration and it came out. Beautiful accident. I found it toe-curlingly embarrassing but also it worked in kayfabe too, so I have to agree.
