I like her but she needs to stop acting like Conor McGregor already. I can’t stand that guy. And if she continues “strutting” like him and trying to be “the king/queen of trash talk” or whatever, I’m gonna take a serious disliking to her. She’s already used the whole “I’m not here to take part, I’m here to takeover” line. Thaaaaat's the thing that irks me. She has really good moments when she's in the moment during matches or during physical segments but her promos and twitter stuff just reek of Conor McGregor ripoff shit. Add in that she's tweeting at him in an effort to get him to show up on a show and man it's just lame. Good points. Plus there’s the related problem that her social media trash talk relies on being booked so strong that her opponents don’t have valid comebacks. And while her heavy kayfabe style is great for smarks and those already in the wrestling bubble, it limits her chances for promotion beyond it, which might be part of why she’s getting top star booking/merch but isn’t doing top-star media/PR.

This really must look strange to newer viewers when they get told that the blonde one that’s always getting beaten up is the one apparently being “shoved down throats” and not the redhead.

And the little jokey hints were 4 months ago when she was at her height of love more or less.

Hello, I've been lingering on here for several years and even joined up a couple of months ago, but never got around to posting. Always found you all too intimidating! I love this board, and I thought it was time I started to involve myself. Anyway, having been a massive fan of the WWE in the past and then lapsing, I have recently got back into it following an extended period off work. Always kept up with it online and was excited to see the Becky stuff after hearing about it. Maybe it's my age, but I just don't get her popularity. It seems like a really forced, broad rip off of Stone Cold, and it just doesn't seem natural or realistic to me. I suppose that's not important in wrestling though. I know about the whole evolution of the character with the grievance with Charlotte which was a great start. Maybe it's the shameless latching on done by Stephanie, or the appalling attempt at a limp with the crutches but for some reason it just doesn't click with me. My wife caught me watching the wrestling when she came home the other day, and it was during a Becky and Ronda segment from a few weeks ago and Becky just looked horribly forced. As she watched it, I actually felt a little like I'd rather she's walked in on me watching something of Brazzers! What am I missing? Can you explain it to me? Thanks. Firstly, you are my favorite hot sauce! Thanks! Secondly, my take (and I haven't read the rest of this thread, so apologies if I'm repeating stuff) the Stone Cold reborn stuff came after Becky natural got over after her mire in the Women's midcard once she already hit the 'glass ceiling' of being first ever SDLive Women's Champion. The problem then was the Blue Brand's Women's division was still being built up and was brand new, so having Becky carry the mantle first gave it legitimacy in 2 different ways: 1) Becky was the only member of (WWE) Four Horsewomen (Charlotte, Sasha, Bayley, Becky) to have never won a title before her SDLive World Title (the other 3 have all won RAW World Titles, and Charlotte has won NXT/RAW/SDLive while Sasha/Bayley both got NXT/RAW titles-- Becky in a sense finally 'caught up' to her older sister Horsewomen in kayfabe) 2) Becky at that time period was a Rocky Miavia-type face who you could buy winning or losing a Big Match on any given Tuesday. So when she dropped the title to I believe Alexa Bliss, Bliss got an instant-push as a legit main eventer that was believable and it continues to this day thanks to Becky Lynch's job. Using Becky to put over other heels/faces was all a means to the end of building the Women's Division eventually for Becky to restake her claim as a heel and conquer (only fans liked the Heel Becky as they did Austin 3:16). In essence, Becky got over because WWE wanted to push her as a heel, but the natural charisma of Becky leaked out since she was more Herself as a heel than she was as a forced face. WWE's way to capitalize or 'honor' Stone Cold's similar rise to fame as a previous "The Man" is to book her like Stone Cold Steve Austin Jr.

I can't stand it when she puts her tough/intimidating face on. It's just not convincing to me. She looks as tough and intimidating as Charlie sheen did in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

For anyone else in the same boat as OP, I recommend watching this
Also there's this, which is pretty good if you ignore the part where she insults the fans (they may have cut it out of this)

Thanks to everyone for the replies, I think a combination of my age and my jumping on point have made this difficult for me to fully get behind.
Those videos in the post above are very good at showing it though, I particularly like the first one.
She just doesn't seem to come across like that anymore. If she had, I think I'd be right behind her (if only!). The sort of forced bad assery seems to take away from the genuine aspect that these videos showed. I think I'm going to need to go back and watch some more of the build up to this. I think I'm going to enjoy the fight come Wrestlemania, but I don't know if I'll be wanting Becky to get the win.
Also, as much as I don't get the character, Becky really is stunningly beautiful!

Yeah, I fully expect the tune to change on Becky if she gets traded to Raw. Her appearances on Raw are where the criticisms started to mount.
I hope I'm wrong. She's one of the best talents they have overall.

Great entertainer. solid worker. I don't understand the whole "The man" thing though. Unbelievable potential but a victim of the typical crappy WWE booking, so she will never reach her full potential chances are. After Mania, Im sure they cool her jets off. Since they can't stop with their Charlotte fascination. Even though Becky is far better Becky has literally squash Charlotte since Septemeber.

I like Becky and have been a fan since NXT. But I also realize that there's a lot of smoke and mirrors right now with her character. Also, there's the fact that 80% of the WWE is boring as hell right now. So with Lynch being somewhat interesting, it makes her look like a million bucks by comparison.

So you watch those matches that they've had since September, and Becky has "literally squashed" Charlotte in every single one of them? Hell in a Cell - Becky wins countering a spear into, I believe, a rollup to win. Super Showdown - Charlotte wins by DQ after Becky uses the belt to get disqualified. Smackdown - They go to a double countout after Charlotte prevents Becky from returning to the ring. After the match, Charlotte spears Becky through the set. Evolution - Becky wins the match of the night to retain the Championship over Charlotte. Bearing in mind that this was the match of the night and Becky got at LEAST as good as she gave. I understand the idea that Becky has gotten over on Charlotte with consistency Charlotte has not experienced in her WWE career (including NXT), but the idea that she's been "literally squashed" is pure hyperbole.

the continuing injury thing has slowed becky's momentum some as she can't actually have any matches because of it so all she can do to keep things going is attacking people or commenting on twitter. plus throwing charlotte into the mix means her attention keeps being split between charlotte (which is reaching HISTORIC! charlotte/sasha levels of "can they fight someone else please?") and rousey- which is the feud a majority of people want to see. however rousey's weakness on the mic and the all the time between now and mania required charlotte to be involved as she can handle that side of things to shield rousey from her weakness there (also rumors that rousey didn't like getting booed 1v1 against becky requiring charlotte to be there to absorb the booing were around as well).
throw in the authority repeating the Austin and Daniel bryan scenarios of the past at the same time and you have this big mess where we are now. rousey finally going heel though may restore a better balance to thing. becky as the face vs rousey (the kickass "i'll hurt people" heel) and charlotte (the mocking "chosen one of vince" heel). though I expect one of the latter two to trend more tweenerish as things continue.

From August until the last couple weeks (and even then, if they get their heads out of their asses they can right the ship) she was the best thing they had going (Charlotte also deserves a lot of credit for that). I'm looking forward to the triple threat and Becky winning, I just want them to balance things out a bit. Ronda attacking her on Monday got me pissed and I'm a grown ass man, so they still have something special here. lol This was also great

It was effective as hell!

It was effective as hell! I would've been completely cool with that being their last segment until Fastlane. The segment with Charlotte and Becky on SD was totally unnecessary and since all three are fighting for the Raw Women's Title, it doesn't really make sense to have them appear on SD anyway. I expect Ronda to jump in and attack both at Fastlane anyway, but still, I wouldn't have minded being kept pissed off for all that time.

First- you don’t have to like everyone they put on TV. I never liked Jeff Hardy when he was he most popular babyface they had. Some things will click with you & others won’t.
That said- when WWE did a truly great job with a babyface (Hogan, Rock, Austin)- it didn’t matter if you had been watching for years or the first time you ever saw them. You knew exactly what they stood for and what they were fighting for, and if they didn’t get it across, then commentary would.
This thread is a great example of fans know they are supposed to be behind her, but the booking doesn’t always bring you there.
