As always, I started watching later without any interruptions or forum stuff since my Friday nights are usually busy and here's my opinion. Well, some notes.
- Mauro off rip references that Joker trailer. That movie's gonna kick ass. Hope he doesn't lay it on this thick through this whole ppv. Oh, Sir Kicks-A-Lot huh? Ok, that's nice. I'll rock with it. Bradly Cooper and Gaga? Oh no baby what is you doin? - Black and Ricochet/War Raiders was insane. Amazing opening. I don't have much to say about this besides the fact that I wish all opening matches were this great. It had everything you need in an opener. - Dream/Riddle, man that match was funny for a few different reasons. The story being told was hilarious. It started off with Dream being cocky assuming Riddle wasn't up to his level, Riddle thought Dream was near his level until it went into overdrive and Riddle dominated him. They both realized that yeah, Riddle's that dude. Through willpower Dream came back and barely won with his intelligence surprising Riddle but then again that's Dream. Dream's been playing mindgames with Riddle for a while so Dream winning this way makes sense. The respect they gave each other was great too. It ended the way I expected but prior to that? Man. That was dope as hell lol. Dream's that dude, he's a made star. Riddle, he's got so much damn potential and he hasn't been doing this too long, he's special too. I love these dudes. - Kushida's gonna be that dude, I already know. - Walter's amazing. He oozes presence. That entrance, that theme, that look, damn dude is just IT. Just no nonsense, just out to get it. Straight to the point, love it. Pete, he's that battle hardened wardog. So far you've got this monster Goliath Walter against this smaller dominating David. The half was Walter wrecking dude but the latter half had Dunne breaking down the monster. Interesting dynamics. Dunn held that belt for as long as he could but it was a dope change of the title. Loved the match. - Women's Fatal-4-Way. Great match. Bianca continues to greatly improve, she's special. Io and Kairi are always dope. Shayna is Shayna. They all did their thing, just not sure where they're headed because I was sure Bianca was gonna get the title tonight. Shayna needs to lose that belt alright. I mean, I get it. We get it. - Gargano on that Super Serum lmao but I loved it. Wonderful match. The only thing is that I wish Gargano's overness wasn't hurt by his booking because had it not been it would have been even wilder. Still, dope. The longer the third round went the more I thought they were going to pin that boy Gargano. It was to a point where they even had dude planted all over his body so it looked like he couldn't kick out lol. Props to Gargano for getting the job done and as for Cole, man his time is coming. That man was hungry. - Ciampa strolling out at the end had me cracking up. I'm glad it ended the way it did though, that's how you end arcs. Sure, the 3rd portion of the story was messed up but they finished as best they could. That's how you do it.

Okay so my thoughts on this show, I watched the first hour live and the rest this morning.
- War Raiders are a great tag team with great spots and a fascinating way of working, with the big guy being the flyer and the small guy being the powerhouse. I just hate the gimmick, I think it's lame. Stinks of New Gen nonsense to me. Black and Ricochet I now really like as a tag team. They gel really well somehow despite seemingly being nothing alike. I was originally against them as a team but I think they would add a lot of zest to either main roster tag division or one combined one if they're doing that. - Riddle/Dream - I wasn't sold on Riddle, I am now. He is close to unique in his wrestling style and he has the real MMA credentials. He could be something really big if they use him right. I loved that he basically worked heel for this match, showing he was capable of it (I really didn't think he would be but I could see the whole character just through part of how he wrestled this match), but stayed face at the end. He really seems like a nice guy, even if I can totally tell why someone would hate him too. Quintessential wrestling. Dream is one of my favourite guys on the entire roster. I was wearing his merch while I watched the show. He did the Hogan shit twice before, and I was okay with it because it seemed to be making a statement about something. But it seems that now he just does Hogan spots in the middle of his matches, which is such an indie bullshit gimmick to be doing. The gimmick around it is one of my favourite in wrestling history, the sexually ambiguous, arrogant badass. He doesn't need the Hogan shit, he got over without it, and it's stupid. - Walter/Dunne - In the running for my favourite match of the year. Deliberately a big contrast to the rest of the show, much more ground based and technical but with some outstanding high spots (that top rope powerbomb was both terrifying and safe). I loved the story it told, of Walter having Dunne's number but Dunne still not going down without a fight. Walter shown as being virtually unstoppable but still having weak spots, being quick without being someone who wrestles quickly, like a methodical machine. He looked like a killer, and Dunne looked like one too just by surviving him for so long. The length of this reign, which was not a Lesnar reign, but just a long and dominant one, makes Walter look so strong in winning this match. I love Pete Dunne, but I was dying for him to lose just to see what would happen. And in a time when I get sick of constant rematches, especially in NXT because of how few shows they have, I would absolutely want to see a rematch because it would feel like a different story being told now that this match has happened. - Four-way - We have reached this weird scenario where a few years ago NXT had the best women's wrestling I'd ever seen and the main roster was a joke, but I preferred the men's in both. These days, I am way more invested in the main roster women than I am in the NXT men or the main roster men, but the NXT women's division is in a rebuild phase again. I love Shayna but she is getting stale, Kairi and Io both aren't quite being as awesome as I expected. Bianca is very good but still green, and I love her gimmick. This match just kinda passed me by. A few years ago would have been one of the best matches on either show, but I think this was forgettable. - Main event - Johnny got booed in the intros because of how shitty the booking has been going into this. The spots were excellent, and it was a very good match, but without a story to care about (I don't care if Johnny wins the title, I am sick of him) it just was meaningless to me and I wanted Adam Cole to win. They eventually managed to correct the crowd reactions to the right face/heel, and this was clearly what a lot of people wanted but wasn't for me. I am sick of Johnny, sick of his marathon title matches, and I like others am starting to get 'great match' fatigue with NXT. Every single one has to be a classic, and we have lost the art of shorter, punchier matches or cooldown ones.

i thought it was the perfect time to do the double turn with Riddle/Dream. it just felt right to do. I was annoyed they did not. Riddle's smile and thumbs up to someone in the crowd straight after he lost also took a bit away from it. I love Riddle and everything, but little slights like that take away from the moment.
Tag Title match was actually my MOTN just beating out Dunne/WALTER. It was just bloody amazing. Right up there alongside anything from the DIY/Revival and Revival/AA series of matches.

I like Takeover being on friday. Gives a buffer so we can get over the whole “NXT is better and the main roster show is definitely gonna be bad” conversation I think it helps the weekend flow a bit better, since you have the Hall of Fame as a cool down between Takeover and Mania if you only care about the WWE stuff. However, it's inconsistent with all the other Takeovers since they are on Saturday, and I don't think WWE promoted that fact all that well either. And it’ll probably be a one-time deal with Smackdown moving to Fridays now.

I missed the tag match but otherwise it was a good show. I like how Dream uses the double axe handle so much considering all the corkscrew flippy stuff that other people do. It makes a nice change to get over a simple move. I guess it's his schtick but I wish Riddle would wear boots and pads. I get that it's like an MMA look or something but it's a pet peeve. He's a good wrestler though seemingly so whatever.
I thought the women's match was great and think Bianca Belair rules. I'm not sure why so many people seem to dislike her although I don't watch the weekly show but she seems amazing. Great athleticism. She looks cool. She's apparently insanely strong. The hair allows for unique spots besides whipping like pulling her into things or whatever. Only seen her twice but I'm a fan. I like Shayna too although people seem to be sick of her. Sharai's moonsaults are so impactful too. She like drives her body into people instead of floating upwards through the air. It's nuts.
The main event was great although for my tastes it had a little too many thigh slap kicks and stuff that were just no sold and followed up by more thigh slappy kicks but the crowd was going mental so it was cool. Maybe too many kick outs but it was fun (Maggle!).

Top to bottom that was easily the best show I’ve ever been to.

The excessive kickouts may be a bit much for some, but they certainly do a good job in getting the crowd invested in the match.

Johnny Gargano's character is real damaged goods to me right now. The Ciampa/Gargano feud had a lot of potential to be an all time great and I really enjoyed Gargano's psychotic break storyline where he turned heel, but in hindsight I think that was a bad move given where we are now and how Johnny hadn't really had a proper redemption for how low he sunk not that long ago. Even if Ciampa's injury didn't take him out it feels like Johnny still had way too many sins to answer for, for everyone to be on board for him finally overcoming his Tomasso Ciampa problem.
I didn't really like Ciampa/Gargano hugging it out at the end of Takeover without either individual really getting a proper "mea culpa" moment. I'm bummed about Ciampa's injury for sure, and I suppose it's a fine moment if you disconnect yourself from the story, but I just don't think that moment was worth further negating the heart of the Gargano/Ciampa storyline. Johnny's awesome so I'm sure over time he'll build some positive momentum again, I thought the main event was great in a bubble but I'm pretty cold on Johnny's character at the moment.

Bell to bell the best show of the year so far. Gargano-Cole is probably my match of the year so far as well. Outstanding event with a nuclear crowd.

Really enjoyed the show. Surprised at only 5 matches in a 3+ hour show but thought the matches were entertaining
Loved tag match, Dream/Riddle and ME
Dunne vs Walter was ok for me. I dunno just something about Pete Dunne just makes me not get into him and his matches. I genuinely cannot place what it is though
Women’s match was alright as well but I think Blazer is too dominating and does not appear to have any real competition hurts that one

So I'm two days late to this because I just finished it last night. Thank you for existing WWE Network! My thoughts
War Raiders vs Richochet/Black: Really good match, not my cup of tea but I respect what they were doing. The send off was nice
Velveteen Dream vs Matt Riddle: Great match with a great story, reminded me in someways of the Austin vs Hart match from Survivor Series 1996 where the loser took most of the offense and look like a star until he made one major mistake.
Pete Dunne vs WALTER: Another really good match with Dunne doing whatever he could to try to slow WALTER down. WALTER looks like a pro wrestler and I love it. I need to watch more of this guy.
Woman's 4 Way: It was good. Honestly I was 1/2 paying attention at the time and didn't feel like watching it again. I probably will at some point later, though with the amount of content on the network and my Year 2000 rewatch stalled in February that may not be happening.
Adam Cole vs Johnny Gargano: HOLY SHIT THIS MATCH!!! Completely awesome in almost every way. It's a match that reminds me why I love wrestling.
All in all another fantastic show from one of the best promotions in the world.

Nitpick but Bianca getting her arm stomped on then immediately doing a handspring was bad. Then she’s just slamming and pressing people no problem.
Shayna’s big stomp is supposed to be a big scary move.

Found this quote from an interview with Gargano:
Gargano picked up the victory last night before he made his way up the entrance ramp and was greeted by his wife Candice LeRae and former Champion Tommaso Ciampa. Gargano then whispered something to the former Champion, which he later went on to reveal following the show.
“I told Tommaso on stage that I was gonna take care of Goldy for him for a little bit."
UGH I was supposed to be DONE crying over that.

Meltzer’s given Gargano v Cole a 5.5... So by his rating, it’s the greatest match in company history.
