I don’t mind them switching things up now and then, bringing real life stuff into promos etc BUT there is a huge problem when they let someone basically come out and say it’s all fake/scripted. Like how can that possibly be a good thing at all? You gotta tred carefully with this sort of thing and I don’t think someone like Ronda is smart enough to do that.

Even if we are being worked here it’s dumb.

Bringing reality into promos is great as long as it’s done right.

The right way: Have the wrestlers draw from their actual experiences and cut promos that come across as from the heart. These promos will then hopefully come across as authentic enough that it makes viewers question how much of this is a shoot and how much of it is kayfabe.

The Vince Russo way: Have the wrestlers cut promos where they tell the viewers that the rest of the show is fake and that this promo is real. This undercuts all of the drama and stakes that the rest of the show is trying to achieve, while also contributing virtually nothing to whatever program you’re in.
