What I'm more surprised about is how relevant all of this manages to be. A six page thread on here, 130k+ views on Twitter, and yet there are about 150 people in the crowd.

If we were able to develop such an interesting and meaningful discussion revolving around vomiting on invisible penises, then anything is possible. You gotta believe.

Also, I'm just gonna say it. Stuff like this is waaaay less offensive to me than when a wrestling legend passes away and the WWE writers instantly use it as an attempt to get a heel a modicum of heat.

I would have been the guy in the audience who saw the puke. Then puked. But I do find it funny. What it needed was Joey yelling you puked on my cock! Then pulling a stuffed rooster out of his trunks.

What? We all, you included, spend tons of time all over this board talking about what we like and don't like in wrestling. Why is this topic above criticism? I don't think anyone's saying it's above criticism. More that it's not too lowbrow in an industry where a woman gave birth to a hand. Everything about Joey Ryan is annoying to me and grossout humor generally isn't my thing, but this has an audience and it belongs as much as anything else. To summarize: "I didn't like this". - Aok. I didn't either. "Wrestling is too dignified for this" *adjusts monocle* - lol, bro What I find funny is that when people say they think this is too low brow, people jump in and essentially say what you said, and cite things that happened on TV literally DECADES ago at this point. Archie Bunker said the n word on national network tv in the 70s, would that make it ok for a white guy to do that in the 90s? And guess what? People have been saying the hand incident was too low brow for 20 years. Katie Vick has been discussed as being too low brow and one of the worst things in WWE tv history for 15 years. People act like this shit is revered and held on a pedestal. I have never heard someone try to call Katie Vick art. That shit sucked and was too lowbrow just like this.

I like Priscilla and Joey well enough, particularly the former, but I feel like they could stand to reign it in a bit. Not even offended or anything, just I feel like it's just a lot less fun when you're pushing the envelope until it's off the table entirely.

Nah, don't pretend we need to be ok with this because "it's rasslin" or that somebody puking on a dick belongs in the same category as two athletes telling a great story and then putting on a five star match.
I've introduced multiple people to pro wrestling by showing them great matches and even if they didn't become fans, they could appreciate why I liked it. If I'd started out by showing them someone puking in the ring, they would have looked at me like "Wtf who watches this shit?"
The fact that I love pro wrestling doesn't mean that I am obligated to acquiesce to Katie Vicks and puking Warriors.

The fact that I love pro wrestling doesn't mean that I am obligated to acquiesce to Katie Vicks and puking Warriors. And there are people that like the more absurd side of things. I'm guessing the fans of this fed, for one. There's a reason they're doing it. It's allowed to exist as much as five star matches are. And people are capable of enjoying both. One doesn't negate the other. But we're going off track. My argument was more directed at the mindset that wrestling is too mature for this.

Also people picking on the crowd size is weird when the fed in question, Bar Wrestling, does shows in So Cal in...well, Bars. That's the whole point, people seeing these big names from TV having big matches in places that can fit 150 people. Sort of the spin off to when PWG was in Legion Hall for most of its life.
Not saying that goes with either argument, just something to point out.

You are acting like there is a long history of this kind of stuff happening, when there really isn’t. Again, the only thing people can cite to compare to this and explain why we shouldn’t think this is too low brow is a couple things that happened 20 years ago. Saying “this is the junk food of entertainment, this stuff happens all the time, cmon!” Is not accurate. No, Joey Ryan and Priscilla Kelly do this stuff. There isn’t tons of it out there. I enjoy watching porn every once in a while. I enjoy Marvel movies. Doesn’t mean I want an orgy to break out in the middle of Captain Marvel. If you like gross out humor, seek out a movie or something that provides that, don’t expect it should happen in wrestling and say anyone who doesn’t agree is too up tight or easily offended.

How is that any different than him saying people are too up tight or easily offended for not approving of this?

But like you said, porn and Marvel movies are two different things and if people want to go see those different things, they would. You're not going to get an orgy in Marvel movies and you're not going to get a decent plot in porn. They're not going to interact with one another. Just like this stuff, being aimed at a different audience in a smaller promotion, isn't going to suddenly be the norm in WWE or anywhere else because they're two different things. Look, I'm not 100% a fan of this stuff either nor am I a fan of calling people names if they don't like it (not saying anyone is here by the way) but wrestling is diverse enough to cater to both where in one corner you have ROH, the other corner you have CHIKARA and further down you get your DDTs, your Hoodslams, your ATTACK!s etc.

I’m not telling him specifically what to do, I am speaking in broad terms and arguing against the fact that there is a place for this in pro wrestling. I am saying it feels shoe horned in and forced, and to say it is a natural part of the business is not something I agree with or understand the logic behind. And I am not offended by this, when I say low brow or doesn’t belong in wrestling, it is because I think it is dumb, corny, and not creative.

There's too much to tackle here and I'm on mobile, so bullet point version . It people pay to see stuff like this, is absolutely belongs. Your dislike of it is irrelevant. . Grossout humour has existed in wrestling since practically its inception, yes. . Because Marvel never has grossout humour and sex scenes. . I've never once called anyone easily offended. I even understand anyone's right to not like this, as I don't either. But it's not some giant slap in the face to the highly respectable pastime of wrestling. More par for the course.

Me genuinely hating my face messed up is actually part of the reason Spike Trivet isn't allowed to spit champagne at fans anymore in Progress. Nut I'd still rather watch this spot a million times than WWE lording up Jimmy Snuka, or hosting another Crown Jewel.

What are all these examples of this kind of thing happening in wrestling since it’s inception? Outside of a couple examples during the Attitude Era, I just can’t come to grips with people saying this is part of wrestling and par for the course. I legitimately can’t think of anything remotely close to this stuff. You can say it has always been a part of wrestling, but it really hasn’t.

I only skimmed this thread, but the gist I am getting is people wished Ultimate Warrior vomited on Papa Shango's penis
(on that note Papa Shango's penis is something I never thought I would ever write)
