I'm liking it I know people want the match official but I find the fact they keep making him chase it interesting I maybe would if it weren't so painfully transparent. Kofi's plastered all over the show and is the only person even being discussed as any kind of threat to Bryan right now. He's obviously getting the shot. Combine with how WWE has gotten REALLY over-reliant in recent years on just teasing and teasing and teasing matches then only making them official last minute (the triple threat, this, Cena / Taker, arguably Reigns / Taker, Shane / AJ, and Orton / Wyatt come immediately to mind) and it feels like this would be a million times better if Kofi were directly chasing the belt instead of chasing the chance to get it.

Pretty much how I feel. I just don’t see all the hullabaloo about this or any of the other mania matches. I’ve found that they’ve been built well and serve their purpose. I’m ready for Mania Yea, it would be wack imo if Kofi just got it
Yes, they are making him jump through hoop after hoop but that's the point of it all in that he's more than qualified but is getting f***ed over by Vince
It's damn near somewhat the same to DB who had to win a match at Mania to get in the main event
Exactly. There’s no way in hell theyre actuallt swapping him out two weeks before their biggest show of the year. There’s also no way this’ll be set forever. Plus, they’ve got time. Next week he wins, the following week they brawl, and then Mania. It works for me.

At this point I won’t even be surprised if Kofi gets the match and then loses at Mania.
WWE are some clueless putzes. All bets are off.

Ok, if Vince is so deadest on Kofi not being the challenger THEN WHO IS BECAUSE WRESTLEMANIA IS IN TWO f***ING WEEKS AND THERES NO WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH. You’re in charge, just pick someone else if you hate him so damn much! "WrestleMania's in how many weeks? S-shit. I- um..." "I've just decided that um... at WrestleMania, uh..." "WWE Champion Daniel Bryan will face... LAMP!"

Their writers aren’t subtle or clever enough for that. If that’s what they were going for they’d be beating us over the head with it. I also don’t think Vince is self aware enough to even think it’s coming across that way. Nah, they're more clever than you think. I made a comment about something else that happened in the SDL thread and I'll post it here.
Stuff like that, they're definitely more clever and subtle than you're giving them credit.

Yea, I get it. I just think the teasing works here because Kofi literally lucked into this situation and the fact he's getting this title shot is something I never thought would happen
The only real way they can f*** this up imo is if they treat Kofi like a chump at Mania. Give him and DB a 12 min match where neither guy really gets going and DB wins decisively.
What WWE has done wrong tho is create this somewhat false narrative in the fact if Kofi doesn't win the belt their is going to be a lot of angry people. I think if this title match got confirmed people would been alright with him losing but at this point he must win or people are going to throw a f***ing fit
Even then, I still personally don't think Kofi will hold the title longer than 2 months. Hell he could lose it as soon as that SD

I think this sort of fits in the realm of instant satisfaction
Like I said I have no problem with the build because you can see they are treating this carefully as opposed to Dolph Ziggler getting a title shot at Summerslam type situation

As an aside, I'm guessing they're about to go all in on pushing the name Dreadlocked Dynamo because the WWE.com write up on this match says it four times.

Far from the biggest question mark about this story but if they're doing the 'nudge nudge Vince hates Kofi because....y'know' route then why did he give Kofis title shot at fastlane to Ali who ain't going to be winning any popularity contests with the tiki torch muppets either.

I get it, they are testing Kofi if he can be as over as 2014 DB, I wonder if they will have him pull double duty like DB did at WM30, but that would mean he and DB would main event instead of Becky,Charlotte and Ronda.

Right. Kofi's push started February 12 for that gauntlet match. Elimination Chamber was on February 17, it hasn't been long at all. I get why people might dislike it but it really hasn't been a long time so Kofi not getting in the match here doesn't damage him much. What they did tonight is basically say "Kofi's the strongest babyface male on the roster right now guys" even though he lost the match which is very important. Since we've only got a few weeks left and since they're still building up Kofi it's not that bad. I mean, Kofi here is not the same as Becky getting screwed. This is a guy who's push started literally a little over a month ago.

But they had a logical ending point tonight. That’s not wanting instant satisfaction, that’s wanting logical progression and not dragging things out longer than they need to be for no real reason. Wrestlemania is in two weeks, they can’t write two weeks worth of segments that aren’t related to Kofi still having to jump through hoops to get the match? At this rate they’ll start formally advertising the match for their biggest championship a week in advance and that’s just dumb.

Kofi comes out in whiteface, Vince immediately gives him the title match.

I think they need to confirm it next week either way. I also think at this point unless they just want to make D. Bry the biggest heel of all time that Kofi needs to take it at Mania after all he’s been through.
I think we get Operation Pancake next week and the whole SD roster protests Vince, leading to Vince acquiescing. That way they only have to do one week with a contract signing and that’s that. Then we see if they give Kofi the thank you run or not.

Exactly, this was the ideal moment to have the Kofi achieve the next step. There is no reason at all to stretch it into the last second. Especially if you are a casual. The WWE title isnt even in the card yet.
