I'm honestly glad that no one's going to let this Kofi win override that Booker shit. That's what I was expecting people to say but I wanted to gauge the room. More than anything what bugs me about Triple H / Booker is the commentary. The entire match is just Lawler being incredibly racist for 20 minutes and then going, "See, I was right!" Also the fact the company tried to say that the storyline wasn't about racism even though it clearly was. Hell they even had those backstage segments where Triple H and Flair kept saying that people like Booker could only carry baggage, drive limos and fetch towels. It's even hard to rewatch those segments to this day. Triple H even threw money in Booker's face and gave dude orders.

It's kind of like going on a racist rant and then saying "hey it's cool, I have a black friend", 'cept it took 17 years to even make that friend lol.

It'll be interesting to see how the commentators call this match. Hell I wonder if Vince will interfere only to get a Trouble in Paradise before Kofi beats Bryan.

I feel like they'll be outright rooting for Kofi - Graves less so, but even he's come around since Kofi ran the gauntlet. I like when heel commentators drop some of the heelishness in the face of something overhelmingly good. Hoping the match is pretty straight up. Wouldn't mind E and Woods (Usos and some other babyfaces maybe?) forming a blockade to stop any shenanigans.

It would also be pretty great if at the end (like I expect) all the SDL babyfaces came out and celebrated with Kofi. Well, maybe not the ones who's match hadn't happened yet but the ones who have already wrestled prior that would be dope.

I wish they hadn't brought Vince in to be Big Racist Villain Man. It's way more compelling and interesting to me if there's no one explicitly holding Kofi down; just this pervasive attitude that he's reliable midcard man who does his tap-dance and goes away, and no one has really thought very hard about why they think that way about him.
But, it's a harder story to tell, and I'd rather they pull off SOMETHING rather than mangle something more difficult.

I feel like this story is the exception that proves the rule. How many times has WWE been accused of being incapable of telling a good story or handling certain subjects well and here we have a nuanced story with multiple levels to it, multiple meanings and it just works well. It's crazy to think that two months or so ago, this story wasn't even a blip on the horizon.

To everyone who was disgusted by the Booker incident, depending on how this angle goes will you feel relieved? Sure, nothing can take away from what happened with Booker but I at least will think that they've learned their lesson from before if Kofi wins which is honestly something I never felt they learned. Yeah Booker got the title later on but that whole thing never left me as a fan. It's the closest they can get to rewriting history. They're doing it right this time, or trying to. But I'm a white guy, I don't think it's on me to decide whether this would make up for past mistakes.
