It wasn't bad really, had some decent spots and it didn't take up that much time, but it had that problem WAAAAAAY too many AJ matches anymore do of spending the entire time warming up then ending out of nowhere right as it starts getting good.
And honestly AJ looked a bit rough out there. I think his body might be starting to wind down because he was a lot slower and more awkward than usual and it was really noticeable that Orton was the one having to work to keep up the pace and to get the crowd invested.

I've tried not to use this word, but AJ Styles is BUNS right now. Randy Orton actually carried that match.

I'm just accepting that this is what Styles is now. Sort of okay match guy.

As I expected, it looked and felt like a typical Smackdown match. Never was a big Orton fan, though he has his moments. Iād be fine with him stepping away tbh

I liked it. Was slow but got going.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree that Styles is getting repetitive. His 'Big Event' matches have been essentially the same match with little alteration between them.

I said it in the live thread, but AJ just cannot get out of first gear unless he's dragged out of it by someone like Bryan.

Wasn't bad. Wasn't great though. That was my opinion. Just average. Honestly, The Revival vs. Major Bros felt more like a main card match.

Honestly, I'm kinda puzzled that folks were expecting anything different from an AJ Styles and Randy Orton match. Like, if you were to simulate that match on a super computer, that's exactly how it'd look.

It kinda feels like Styles put all his effort in getting good matches out of Jinder as well as Lesnar and then just sort of three quarter assed it after that.
He's not capable of having a bad these days, but the feud with Owens/Zayn, Nakamura, Joe, etc; none of them feel as strong as the stuff he was doing in 2016 in his sleep.

Orton bores me to tears and Styles canāt have good ppv no matter what he does. That being said it was better than expected.

Honestly a lot of my expectations came from their match on SmackDown but then, a lot can change in two years I guess.

It says something that this was noticeably slow and plodding at times, and it wasn't Orton's fault for spamming rest holds.

It was good but needed a few more minutes I thought. Actually like AJ's Mania match last year right when it got going it just ended.

If heās wrapping it up, have him go out in the main event of mania next year against Seth

The crowd turned on this match quickly. They were right.
On the other hand, how good were the āMania versions of Owens vs Jericho and Styles vs Jericho?
It could be a trend. These grudge matches between big stars, to get them on the card, are only supposed to be average.

Start off extremely slow, then finish just as it's about to finally start get interesting. The guy has done so much great work in WWE alone and I'm not going to start an AJ Styles depreciation thread or anything, but fair's fair. If Nak can be shit on for not delivering, he should as well.

It was decent. But, yeah, might be time to recalibrate our expectations of AJ.
