We will also accept Write in Votes (although, please mention it as such) for movies not included on the list I'm getting the choices off of. However, I will not remove any from the list (I can't by that point), so, if you want to make your case why a certain movie isn't a horror film, make it. Creature isn't too bad.

John Carpenter's/Vampires is weak

Deep Rising is oddly enjoyable tentacle creature on a ship with the guy from Last of the Mohicans and Famke Janssen.

I liked Godzilla! It’s not the traditional Godzilla, but they would have to do something unimaginable for me not to like a Godzilla movie.

X FILES is class
got GODZILLA on dvd, except it skips at a bit so i have to get to the next chapter, also DEEPER UNDERGOUND and COME WITH ME
and DEEP RISING was the first dvd i ever watched ..... on my PC as i was using that as a dvd player

I watched DEAN KOONTZ'S PHANTOMS because of the joke in JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, and I genuinely enjoyed the hell out of PHANTOMS. So I gave it my vote.

Two hours left, and Ringu is dominating this poll. Still, there are a couple of movies that could sneak up.

Yeah, let's go ahead and call it for Ringu, as no other movie is tie-ing/beating it at this point. I see why it won, as it was one of the first movies to make up what most know as the J Horror sub genre. It's decently freaky, but I'll be honest with you, never got into J Horror thing that much, so, it was just...OK to me. Once again, though, I get why it won.

I went for John Carpenter's Vampires, which, while not being up to his late 70's-In the Mouth of Madness heyday....it wasn't bad either. Actually, it's a lot of fun, especially James Woods' asshole (not a far stretch) vampire hunting lead character. Plus, the scene with the Lord Vampire pretty much slaughtering Woods' vampire hunting team early on is f***ing bad ass.

I did also like the X-Files movie, and looking back, that's probably where they should have ended the series, as it never got better for the show/concept than that. This was the peak of the X-Files phenomenon, and the movie delivered answers while creating more questions. Although, I will say that the movie soundtrack has a hidden track that explains the entire conspiracy, which definitely spoiled the "Big Reveal" in the last episode.

Species II was a solid follow up to a decent first film. In this movie, though, Natasha actually plays a clone of the original EVE, who is taught to be more human, which was an interesting twist. Though, once again, the selling point of this movie wasn't her great characterization skills, and we do get a bit of that, but this time, the main villain is a returnee from a space mission that has been infected (and is eventually taken over) by another alien. It's a decent sequel if one doesn't go in expecting too much.

That leaves the Godzilla remake for me, and, yeah, it may be somewhat watchable as just a giant dinosaur creature attacking the city movie (well, somewhat), but as a Godzilla movie....it f***ing blows donkey dick. The attempts to be witty and humorous, for the most part, fail completely (and there are a LOT of comedic bits in this movie), and the makers of this film clearly had no idea what a Godzilla movie even was, down to the creature itself. The only worthwhile thing about the 1998 Godzilla, other than having a decent soundtrack, is that version of Godzilla facing the REAL Godzilla in Godzilla: Final Wars. Almost made sitting through that shit film worth it....almost.


OK, that being said, let's finish up with 1998.
