Damn... This is a very unexpected one.
Whilst I'm not going to lie and say I was a huge fan or anything.. Dying at 39 just sucks.

I met her once and she was amazing. Super sweet and kind. She's my age. I'm 39. And to be frank, dying at 39 scares the shit out of me.
Rest in peace.

That’s a damn shame. Hopefully she can find the peace in the next life she couldn’t find in this one.
If anything, I feel worse about this than most other wrestling deaths because of something that relates to the ancestral ties of this board... As long-time posters would know, this board was once affiliated with WrestleCrap. The early run of their WrestleCrap Radio podcasts co-incided with her run of the Diva Search, and the hosts of the podcast would jokingly refer to Massaro using a word that has since been generally deemed as a transphobic slur. I know for a fact that I myself, in my late teens/early twenties at the time and generally being way less socially aware, would occasionally use that same slur on these boards to continue the joke.
There’s no way that Ashley Massaro would have ever read these boards and been made aware of such comments, let alone be affected by them, but it’s something that I apologise unreservedly for. I’ve become very ashamed of that as I’ve gotten older and made friends through this board, including posters who identify on the LGBTQ spectrum, and I hope it’s something that doesn’t reflect on how I am now all these years later.

I’m honestly shocked. I may not have been a huge fan of her when she was in WWE, but I saw her in person at the NJ Horror Con in Atlantic City in April, and then again at the Chiller Theatre Expo in Parsippany just a few weeks ago. She looked fine both times. That's creepy...as we mulled going to Chiller and probably would have gone to NJHC if, you know, it was still in Woodbridge. I saw her at other non-wrestling cons too (one such con I also unexpectedly met...Brian Christopher. And now I just creeped myself out again realizing that) Wasn't really a big fan as she was around when I wasn't watching. But sad news nonetheless. Needless to say, this year and a half's been awful for the business.

I didn't have a tremendous affinity for her when she was in the WWE, but I could sense that she loved and respected wrestling, and was well thought of by her peers. Heard that she was training recently to come back to wrestling, an indies redemption run would have been super fun.
Hope her daughter knows how well regarded her mother was, and goes on to do well in whatever she chooses to do with her life.

Really upset me hearing about this, i always liked her and had a bit of a cruah on her when she was on tv. Hope her daughter will get through this and feel happy knowing her mum was and stillnis much loved by her peers and many fans.
Rest in peace Ashley.

such shocking news to wake up too
I saw the locked thread in the WWE current and for a moment, hopefully thought it was a false report
she always seems likable even on camera while in her time with the company

Really blindsided by this, and 39 is no age. Sending out my thoughts to her daughter and family at this awful time. RIP Ashley.

RIP. This is extremely tragic news. Massaro’s commitment to the business was real.

Can't claim to have been a fan but I met her at a signing once and she was extremely pleasant and spent a lot of time with everyone who queued to see her. This is really sad news.

RIP Ashley Massaro. I never met her but I've never heard anything negative about her from the people who have met her. Mick Foley posted on his Facebook page about Ashley's daughter and Foley's youngest kids being classmates in school. I enjoyed her work. This is sad news indeed.

Regardless of what some might think in the moment, 39 isn't that old. I'd wager that more people than you might think on this board are 39 or older. I don't know anyone here who thought 39 was old. I'm 35...4 years younger, and man...this sucks to here. I'm over 40. This is sad to hear. I liked her. As many have said she had a unique look that really helped her stand out. And she seemed to really enjoy performing. My condolences to her friends and family.

I don't remember what slur specifically was used back then but I remember her like being called manly which I absolutely never understood. Always thought she was super hot and suitable in the ring for the era. Sad to see her go, and the way some tweets from people that know her are worded... Well... I don't want to speculate but it's so unfortunate for somebody to die that young under any circumstances.
