I don't remember what slur specifically was used back then but I remember her like being called manly which I absolutely never understood. Always thought she was super hot and suitable in the ring for the era. Sad to see her go, and the way some tweets from people that know her are worded... Well... I don't want to speculate but it's so unfortunate for somebody to die that young under any circumstances. RD (or was it the other one) called her "tranny"

RD (or was it the other one) called her "tranny" "Gay humor" has always been WrestleCrap's only not-so-good trait. I blame the fact that they all love The Simpsons (another show where you could say the same thing about.)

Absolutely sad and terrible. Way too young to go, and I hope we get answers soon to what happened. RIP.

She's way too young to go. I always had such a crush on her and loved her appearance on smallville. This is definitely such a shock.

Not to add to speculation about how she died, but a lot of the tributes on Instagram are definitely leaning towards the same direction

She was a DJ on one of the local radio stations here on Long Island and she had a great passion for music as well Yeah, on 94.3 Yeah, this is from them: Not to add to speculation about how she died, but a lot of the tributes on Instagram are definitely leaning towards the same direction Yeah, what Torrie Wilson said leaned towards that.

Not sure what to say. I remember her being pushed right around the time I started watching again, and she had a cool look to her. That only feels like a few years ago. From what people have said, she's a really sweet person.
Just when I think the days of wrestlers passing away super young is over, it happens again, and never gets any less sadder.
My condolences.

RD (or was it the other one) called her "tranny" They both did. A lot of times. Well, juvenile humor (with all the good and bad things about it) used to be a big part of Wrestlecrap Radio. I laughed about it, but never understood it. She was a beautiful woman with a great look, nothing masculine about her at all in my opinion. I'm actually a few years older than she was. That's an age where you still have plans and lots to do and look forward in life. Far too young to go. RIP Ashley.

I thought she worked well with London and Kendrick, and her fashion stood out from most of the other women's at the time.
This really came out of nowhere.
RIP.

This one is rough....and I don't know why. I wasn't a devoted fan or anything, she was ok in the ring; but, if anything, she proved her worth and then some by wanting to be there and wanting to learn and do better. It was clear she wasn't just some person showing up for the easy paycheck. She was a wrestling fan (that was always known I think) and she gave it her all.
Every so often since I read this news last night I've just stopped and.......I don't get it. 39 is too young. I don't think there was ever any reported history of drugs or any of that, unlike (sadly) many many others. It's bewildering to think she's dead, because I just can't grasp the why.
Absolutely horrible news. May she rest in peace.

Ashley Massaro is somebody who will probably be remembered as someone who was never a very good wrestler, but she should also be remembered as someone who fairly obviously WANTED to be a good wrestler. Ashley Massaro, Candice Michelle, Christy Hemme, Layla, and even Maria Kanellis to extent, were that group of women who were never very good at wrestling, but it was obvious that they actually gave a shit, cared about wrestling, and obviously wanted to be good. They needed NXT before NXT was a thing. Instead they were essentially picked up off the street and expected to perform with little to no training, and it's no surprise that essentially all of them had their careers cut short by injuries. Had Ashley Massaro received proper training and development, who knows how differently her career would have gone. And I have been reading that she had been training for a comeback?? What a shame. RD (or was it the other one) called her "tranny" Members of the board was calling her a 'tranny' too, along with 'man face', 'butter face', and 'concrete tits'. Ashley was made into an easy target for cheap laughs. I hope people have learned some lessons since then.

Ashley deserved better. I was not a fan of her as an in ring talent but that was never her fault, the WWE put her on TV with less than the minimum training required for the job they wanted her to do, and she got hurt as a result. Seriously, she won the Diva search and they put her in a match a short amount of time later with absolutely zero regard for her wellbeing, and given how concussions are linked to depression, I've little doubt the WWE are responsible for some of her struggles in recent years. With most male wrestlers who go through the same issues, the WWE always weasel out of accepting any responsibility by saying they worked elsewhere, with Ashley, there's no before the WWE, very little after, this is all on them.
She was put in a bad situation and she tried her hardest to make it all work but she was facing an uphill battle from day one because of the WWE's idiotic, borderline negligent treatment of the diva search girls.
Rest in Peace, Ashley. You really did deserve better.

I'm hearing that it apparently was a suicide A shame if true It's going to open up a lot more questions and those that were close to her or had a connection is going to rack their brain on how they could have reached out to her more to potentially stop it
