We move even deeper into 2001, with the Third of Four lists. Vote for your favorite movie from this part of this year, and, as always, explain your choice (if you like), as well as mention any other movies you might have seen on this list, below.

We will also accept Write in Votes (although, please mention it as such) for movies not included on the list I'm getting the choices off of. However, I will not remove any from the list (I can't by that point), so, if you want to make your case why a certain movie isn't a horror film, make it. Hell, you might end up swaying a few voters from going in that direction, but I can't/won't remove it from the list or DQ it.

Let's see:

Mummy Returns: It is fun but good lord that CGI Scorpion King monster is so bad (A cool idea though conceptually).

Shark Attack 2: Well it is a shark flick that went straight to video sequel, not good.

Pulse: A solid horror from japan even if a bit of it doesn't make sense.

Brotherhood of the Wolf:I haven't seen it but my dad said it was good. (insert shrug emoji here)

The rest I have zero info on.

So I guess I'm voting for Pulse as that cgi Half-Rock half-Scorpion can't win.

brotherhood of the wolf is exceptional, only saw it once on tv, but it really was good ..... but dammit it hasn't been on since!!!
mummy returns is just as fun and bonkers as the first one

Mummy Returns is actually better than The Mummy, terrible SFX notwithstanding. Also, Max Cavalera as the voice of Monster!Scorpion King for the f***in' win.

A little over an hour and a half left, and Brotherhood of the Wolf is winning, but not by much.

I will say, first off, that I was torn between voting for this poll's winner, The Brotherhood of the Wolf, or The Devil's Backbone. I ended up going with Backbone mostly because I love Del Toro, but Brotherhood is a good movie as well. Both are good example of the good foreign horror that we started getting more access to in the 2000's.

The Mummy Returns was an OK sequel, but you can tell the director learned the wrong lessons about worked for the first movie, and just put a bunch of unnecessary crap (including the bad video game Scorpion King) in this one. Bleugh.

I want to throw a shout out to Chris Seaver's Mulva: Zombie Ass Kicker. It's not for everyone, but if you like the Troma style of humor and bad 80's pop references, you'll like this. This isn't Seaver's best, but it definitely hinted at the goodness to come.

Finally, there is The Forsaken, which is just kind of a lame attempt to do a Lost Boys type of movie. Sorry....wrong era.


OK...time to finish up 2001.
