With everything else at DoN, I wanted to show some love to a match that I wasn’t sure what was going to happen with it and the crowd didn’t react much to when it started but man were they hot for it by the end.
The personalities shining through, the pure talent being showcased, the range of abilities...in a show with many MOTN, I keep going back to this one as the top.

It was a lot of fun. I was honestly looking forward to the (well, at the time) triple threat more before the show, but it was a very excellent match that brought a lot to the show.

Really hoping people who take a liking to any particular wrestler follow up on their promotion. I know I’m getting annoying at this point but as a big joshi fan always happy to point anyone in the right direction.

I personally appreciate it because I’ve seen enough GIFs going around of matches and moments that I’ve just needed a push to watch more of that stuff and that match was that push.

For the record, this was the moment that I realized this whole thing was utterly insane. Riho’s a star.

My Joshi knowledge is mainly from the 90’s and more recently Stardom, so I only knew Aja Kong. Everyone shone in that match, and as I quoted someone in another thread, I am now in love with Yuka Sakazaki.

I said it in the main thread but I didn’t comprehend that someone as adorable as Yuka can actually exist in real life and not some weird “manic pixie girl” anime.

Being a Joshi fan, I knew what all six were capable of and I'm so glad everything went as well as it could've with the match. It makes me happy knowing these performers, and hopefully many others like them that are insanely talented but have limited exposure, are getting a larger platform in AEW.

I already marked out for Emi and Aja, so was super hyped for this match. It was actually a shade less good than I expected because I didn't feel like everyone got enough chance to shine - I really wish I'd seen more of Riho, for example - but it was a really good match.

Aja Kong was in full Big Daddy/late 80s Andre mode - 'I'm not moving around, you come to me and get hit'. But as I said in the First Impressions thread, if you can make money doing that, then do it.
I really liked Ryo Mizunami and Hikaru Shida. They both seem to have star quality. Wasn't as keen on the overly-gimmicked women, but they definitely all seemed very talented, and all had big personalities that they were allowed to show. Hopefully, if these women aren't signed to AEW, the company makes Joshi wrestling a guest slot on their show.

I had never seen any of these women wrestle before, so I was pleasantly surprised by the shots they put on. I look forward to seeing some singles stuff with them so I can get to know them better.

Word was that they wanted to highlight Joshi stars as a showcase thing in the vein of the cruiserweights in WCW, and after that match I doubt anyone's going to argue against that idea

I mean, yeah, Aja is physically not what she used to be after a career that spans over three decades and way more just a personality now than necessarily a workrate machine. But I don't think that's really a bad thing, she's adapted well to time and age and when you compare her to a lot of talent that's been going that long she's still exceptionally better than them at this point in their careers. It helped a great deal she had five other ladies in there that are out of this world too.

It’s what I love about Aja now in that she can still be knocked down but you have to work really hard to do that. I can’t recommend her match with Viper at EVE’s Wrestle Queendom show last year since it was basically all of this in a nutshell. I close my eyes and see that goddamn spike brain buster she did to her and wince.
