It would be a bit "get" for AEW, but his image has been a bit damaged by the lopsided UFC losses. He doesn't really fit with the passionate, grassroots nature of the roster either. Honestly, maybe I've just soured on him.

CM Punk would be a huge get for them. Not quite Tinashe level, but really who is on Tinashe's level? Is this real? Who are you to doubt Tinashe?

October surprise.
They would not, and should not, have him back as a full time wrestler. But how funny would a Cody, Punk, Mox, and Kip James in Conan the Barbarian clothes outside a Raw be? Like just talking shit about Paul Leveque.

I think if he did want to come to AEW, he’d want to wait until the roster was more established, the tv shows and ppv’s are good, and he can get a clear picture of what AEW’s really gonna be after a year.
If it’s still firing on all cylinders and the money’s right, I could see him coming in for a bit.

I could see them trying to get him in just before their TV starts. It just depends if Punk want to wrestle again. Never say never in wrestling. If they opened their first TV show with a stand off between Mosley and Omega-only for CM Punk to come out and interrupt them, I guarantee social media would explode and by the end of the show they would have scored pretty damn close to a WWE rating.

Punks MMA career is basically non canon.
His lack of skills in the octagon don’t translate to the wrestling ring, or lower his star power and influence in THIS BUSINESS.
I honestly think I would have my biggest ever mark out moment if Cult of Personality hit in AEW. It would be unmatched and I think it’s that final push AEW need.
Punks gripes were with WWE. From everything I’ve read and heard.

Punk vs PAC, Punk vs Omega, Punk vs Jon Moxley, hell I'd want to see Punk vs Jericho again to wash out the taste of their 'Mania feud that should've been better that it was especially considering Jericho is probably gonna be the first AEW Champ.

People can rag on Punk all they want for being gone 5 years, for flopping in MMA, for the Cabana mess, and while his body is pretty beat up and he's unlikely to be able to go like he could before, it doesn't change anything about the fact that if AEW got him that would be bigger than Omega, Jericho, Moxley or any of their other signings. The 'hottest free agent in the game' tag is thrown around tons but it's still Punk by a mile. He has a very loyal fanbase, and even getting squashed by a cameraman in UFC hasn't taken his wrestling mystique away.
I'm far from convinced he'll come back to wrestling and I'd consider it a big surprise if they did get him, but Punk is the biggest needle mover get ANY wrestling company can get right now. The only bigger shock would be guys on the tier of Brock, The Rock, Batista, Stone Cold, Cena or Bryan, and 2-3 of those six wouldn't even be wrestling so it's still debatable.
I'd love to see it, and whatever Khan says, I'm sure in private AEW are pulling out all the stops to try make it happen.

If Punk comes back I'd almost want him to be more of a manager type. Right now hes pretty slim from what we've seen and would he even be able to get back into "wrestling shape"? His strongest aspects were always the Mic work so it would be interesting to see what he could do.

The one thing I always think about when it comes to AEW is how much of a bitter person, and what he probably thought about Jericho and Cody mocking him in that story about him being a “locker room leader”.
Would he be able to overlook something like that? I don’t know. Punk holds grudges.

You want to sour me on AEW? Hire CM Punk and invite all the zealots who worship the ground he walks on to be your most vocal, obnoxious fans. The guy is forty years old and hasn't wrestled in five years. No one in their right mind is going to make him the focal point of a major wrestling company, but that's what Punk would expect to be given.

He hates being called Phil so the relationship may not be that great Mr Khan.
I can’t see him returning to a full time schedule. In my opinion the staph infection changed his perception from taking bumps.

The guy is 40 and hasn't been anything in wrestling for years (and frankly I don't think he was anything all that special in his prime, anyway).

Didn’t stopped Hogan both in wcw and his return to the wwe. CM Punk is not Hulk Hogan. Like... at all. Not in popularity and drawing power but in age both guys took long rests before returning to action. Age is just a number.

"They should build first and then get CM punk to avoid being the CM punk show" Who gives a shit? Cm Punk will make their show watched by more people, that's all that matters.
