Punk is my absolute Dude, right before Austin. But I was more than good with what AEW had already, aside from him. And that was BEFORE Ambrose who’s my third Dude after Punk..lol
So, question might not even be will he/won’t he but ..would he even fit? We still won’t know the full nature of the beast until their TV show is up and running. Maybe, and I love Punk, he wouldn’t fit. Aside from maybe commentary or a trolling cameo or something.

You want to sour me on AEW? Hire CM Punk and invite all the zealots who worship the ground he walks on to be your most vocal, obnoxious fans. The guy is forty years old and hasn't wrestled in five years. No one in their right mind is going to make him the focal point of a major wrestling company, but that's what Punk would expect to be given. Agreed. The Cult of Phil re-emerging from the darkened depths is 100% the stuff of nightmares (not Cody).

Once established and (likely) making waves, that would be a good time to bring Punk in. They didnt want to waste all the aces up thier sleeve (and I am sure this is one of them) straight away.

I don't see much that he could bring to the product, to be honest. The sort of people who are interested in Punk are the people who used to follow ROH, NJPW, and other niche alternatives to WWE a decade ago. That audience is already locked in. If the goal of AEW is to actually become a WCW-level juggernaut offering serious competition to WWE (and pretty much all the excitement around AEW is based on their potential to achieve that), they're going to need to aim at drawing in a much wider fanbase than that.
