Aew: we’re here to start a war! Let me blow up a throne with a sledgehammer
WWE: who cares?! Back to our crappy programming. Here’s a couple Of completely neutral references to you, and let’s use the word Elite or “all in” for some random things without actually insulting you. I think Vince called Xavier and E and pair of Young bucks once but for some reason people thought of if as coded language for the subtle race thing during the Kofi buildup.
Superstars: YAY! Good for you! I’m watching your Ppv and rooting for you guys!
It’s almost like Cody and the bucks are trying to be rebels and WWE comes off like “eh whatever, here’s some random shoutouts” and it’s talents sounds like “oh good for you guys”.

And the fans are like... Someone needs to photoshop Vince’s face on Lisa with the “why would they come to our show just to boo us?”

It's all fun and games until people stop paying to watch WWE programming. And the WWE seems to be doing their best to make that happen.

It’s been so long I’ve forgotten what it was like seeing wwe marks blindly defend them against other promotions that matter.

It’s been so long I’ve forgotten what it was like seeing wwe marks blindly defend them against other promotions that matter. What makes you think it’s “blindly?” I really enjoyed RAW last night. Not going to say it was better than DoN, but it wasn’t a shit show either. I actually think there is more blind hate for the ‘E, at least for what happens on screen.

I think the hate for the E is mostly for what is happening behind the scenes than the on screen product imo. Completely ignoring the backstage politics, the WWE has congealed their storylines and matches so much that it practically feels like any episode between the B-show PPVs are nothing more than Naruto-esque filler that aren't worth really paying attention to say for a whopping 5-10 minutes total out of the 180 they try to force onto people. It used to be 'must see TV'; now, I can barely muster the effort to participate in live threads that aren't the PPV shows, it's just that dull of a viewing experience now.

I don’t buy the idea that they’re sweating bullets over AEW. But I do think the thought of WWE as this benevolent, above-it-all entity that’s being implied in the first post—it rubs me the wrong way.
They started a brand that no one pays attention to, partly because ITV did something. They won’t release talent, hoarding a sizable number of their roster. And it’s only been one show. Let’s wait before we marvel at how kind WWE is to their competition.
Some fans may be itching for a war that isn’t there. I think some fans are rushing to say ‘WWE isn’t bad’ based on one episode of Raw.

My favorite thing was “Stephanie says they’re competition” news, then a bunch of the superstars are actively watching and rooting them on over on social media.

Stop trying to turn this into a binary thing where somebody is required to "hate" one or the other. Simply making an observation about general posts nothing specifically. But the og post seems very much that if I’m being honest.

Because it’s harder to believe Vince wanted to get an easy reaction from its audience then “Well, OBVIOUSLY, they’re working together and it’s all a SWERVE!” Like...come on, man.

Well I do not follow AEW too closely but I imagine AEW taking pot shots at WWE (not sure if they are or aren't) is just playing up to the part of their fanbase they have that are enthusiastic about sticking it to the man.
Plus it's much easier to punch upwards than it is to punch down.

Vince probably does see it that way, but I couldn't disagree more with the part about most WWE superstars being disingenuous in their supportive messages about AEW.
A strong landscape for professional wrestling is beneficial for them. An successful alternative they can use for leverage in negotiations is beneficial to them. They want options, they want their own company to be motivated to improve the quality of content, and they also have friends over there who they legit want to see succeed.

I don't think the wrestlers, especially in this day and age, are ever going to be personally angry or bitter or whatever over another company. They aren't WWE, and even without Cody or Mox or Jericho in there so much of the roster built themselves up elsewhere and worked with these guys, so it's only fair that they cheer them on. How many people in the locker room 'hated' WCW who hadn't themsleves worked there and been burned by them? I think pointing to the reactions of individuals is off the mark, those people aren't WWE and being under WWE contract doesn't dictate their beliefs.
As far as WWE I think the proof is kind of in the pudding as far as the things they've been doing backstage. They're not making any grand overtures in their product, but in the past five months we've seen them push aggressively for early contract extensions, throw ludicrous amounts of money at people they're literally telling that they won't book, forcing punitative extensions on people who don't want to sign, and thoroughly humiliating a team on TV week by week for their decision not to sign. Actions speak louder than words here and I have no earthly idea in what universe faint nothingness on TV at all overrules the grease fires backstage.
And at any rate, Cody banged up a throne. I read that way more as a dig at his former boss who said he wasn't a top level guy than I did as some kind of "WWE sux lol" message.
