Okay what the f*** holy shit what a match
Cole had to basically kill Gargano to win it. Gargano continues to always impress and Cole now sits at the top

Yeah that was a 5 star match and I'm glad it ended like it did, with Cole doing it on his own showing he's that dude right now. I was actually worried how the f*** he was even gonna beat dude given at the last Takeover it took all of UE to help him and they couldn't get the job done. Now to see him do it tonight? Great.
I guess from a storyline standpoint the reason Gargano took all that shit during their previous match is because he was fueled by Ciampa and his need to win. This time he didn't have that so Cole got it done.
Finally, I'm glad Cole's still with his boys. We're gonna see a lot of stuff with them keeping the title on Cole I can't wait lol.

Besides that, you had the 2/3 falls BS logic Tonight was just one fall and Cole said he got the first fall and will do it again which he did. Cole basically did it by himself and showed that killer instinct while Gargano gained some of his babyface fire back

Great match, can't say I'm a fan of the Panama Sunrise though - very much took me out of it.

Tonight most of the crowd was cheering for Cole and sure, they did it at the last Takeover but tonight there was even more people behind Cole. It was smart to switch the titles at this point. Gargano can do his thing for a bit until he gets called up.

Great match.
My only quibble is that it continues this run of face NXT Champions that aren't really getting long runs with them before dropping them to the next heel in line. Other than Aleister Black just scraping past 100 days, you have to go back to Finn Balor to find a face NXT Champion that had a significantly long run. I understand there might be a few mitigating factors here, though, like Gargano apparently rehabbing an injury and Cole just generally being so over despite being the nominal heel.

I don't mind the amount of near falls but even I was ready to flip the tv if Gargano kicked outta that last sequence.
Great match. I watched their New York match before this Takeover and I thought it was even better than that one, and that one was better on my second watch of it.

His story over Ciampa would have been the right one but injury got in the way so now it became Adam Cole's time. Gargano can jump back in but right now I assume he heals up and then you could do a rematch between him and VD too Hell, if Ciampa could make it back then you have them called up together as a team but right now Gargano should still stayin NXT

I mean it is what it is, some guys are better at that. We'll see what happens. With Ciampa returning then hey yeah maybe we'll get DIY as a team again. We'll see.

I mean their has been factors that have made this a thing Mcintyre got injured in his match with Almas that cut his reign short. Black while being champ got caught in the middle of the hot feud between Gargano/Ciampa that was dominating NXT and he wasn't getting main events Gargano is injured and he never really had a long run in mind

Caught the tail end, it was great BUT (and this is a reflection on pro wrestling in general not just this match) too much reliance and use of the superkick. A classic move is just another basic run of the mill maneuver in everyone's repertoire

Gargano is still the MVP of NXT and Cole shows that he is still great. Hell of a match.

Cole as champ opens up way more challengers- Riddle, Kushida, Breeze, Lee and of course Ciampa and Gargano when they return from injury

Great match overall but nowhere near 5 stars IMO. Both men’s selling of their injured limbs was really inconsistent, and the ref bump was unneeded.

Read the thread title thought I missed a Gargano vs MICHAEL Cole match. "I was talking to Johnny Gargano earlier today and, well, I told him, 'Hey listen f***head, this Saturday at Takeover, I'm going to knock off Johnny Wrestling.'"
