I haven't watched ROH in a long time but like. Does the Code of Honour even get f***ing brought up anymore? Like it's been downplayed and generally ignored for years but I'm not sure in any of the current era shows I've caught that it's even been mentioned in passing. Nope. The entirety of the Code of Honor became passé around 2009 or so during the Tyler Black era of the company, and by the time we got to Clone Wars, it became this antiquity only occasionally brought up by white meat babyfaces. So, by ROH's logic, they shouldn't even be mentioning it. The only thing still respected about it is the handshake before matches, which is generally something basic that anyone can do.

This thread is proof that whoever said that wrestlers are the real marks was 100% correct.

Jesus Christ, did the TNA PR team take over ROH? What an astoudnly bad way to handle this entire situation. Botched from every possible aspect. More like Clowns of Honor. This statement is Bullshit of Honor by Assholes of Honor.

"Dear Madlibs: Sorry that your Pizza of Honor was cold. Would you like some Fries of Honor and a Refund of Honor in exchange?" Customer: I’d like a slice of pizza. ROH: I’m sorry we don’t have pizza. Customer: Yeah, you do it says it right there. ROH: Oh you mean the Pizza of Honor. Should have went to the IWA:MS show.

I know it's been pointed out by everyone else, but I cannot no sell/get over how funny them remarking about the Code of Honor in a non kayfabe public statement is
That'd be like... if Lucha Underground sent out a serious statement and ended it with "from the desk of Dario Cueto" or if Vince talked about his grapefruits during a shareholder's conference(actually that would be pretty hilarious)

Times like this makes me wish this forum had a laugh react, because this made me laugh really hard.

This looks, smells, tastes & sounds like meta worked shoot. What possible “investigation”needed to take this long? Bully Ray wouldn’t shut up about fans crossing lines on Busted Open this week. Getting some guy to go along with this isn’t hard- especially if he’s a die hard fan. Bully is constantly beating the drum about “blurring lines” with reality. They are also pretty desperate to get anyone talking about their product right now.

If they were willing to take any attention, even if it was negative, they put waaaayyyyy too much effort into this con then. Could have just had a wrestler with a Nazi gimmick or something.

They're all even dumber than they seem if they intentionally wanted fans to think that the company is inept.

To add to the other points, internal investigations usually last at least a month because the people doing them and the company that approved it want to make sure the interviews, the findings and the decision can be done in an accurate manner and to the point they can at least say they did it. What this seems like is ROH saying they’ll do an investigation, come to the conclusion right away and then twiddle their thumbs for the other 29 days before they have to “reveal their findings”, resulting in the bare minimum. Edit: ALSO, if you’re creative enough to think of something like this...you really should be putting that creativity into the storylines and talent acquisitions and not working the fans like it’s 1998.

Like that's the go-to response you give when you intend to do nothing. "We'll look into the matter". Except usually they just go on to never bring up the conclusion of it and wait for it to blow over. Also, this accomplishes nothing. Weird one-off fan antagonism at the dark match of a show that doesn't proceed to mean anything or do anything for their characters. Much more reasonable an explanation is that Bully Ray is a f***ing dick--because that just tracks with everything else said about him--who's still all hot and angry and certain he's in the right about what happened, and that the company sided with him but is so bad at how you do this skeezy shit that they inadvertently brought the conversation back

I like how people want something more out of a company owned by Sinclair. The higher ups were probably into what Bully Ray did, and gave him a promotion in this cheap content producer they usually could care less about.

I WOULD say that's a terrible plan to get fans to want to spend time/money on their product, but the number 1 wrestling company has spent roughly the last 15 years portraying their own company as EVIL, so who knows

They really didn't even try to make it seems like they put anything into it. And this is why, when a company says they're "investigating" something, you have to hold their feet to the fire.

For a company the size of Sinclair, an internal investigation only taking a month is pretty quick to be completely honest. You're also making the assumption that Bubba Ray isn't an absolute headass, which is something that he has proven true on a consistent basis

Don't mean to drag this from the grave (though it's relative), but I felt like Bully Ray going after a random fan on Twitter highlights the insecurities he has.
