That sounds ridiculous. I’m not even gonna blame the fan on this one. (Provided he didn’t leave any big details out) He bantered with the heels, got called a virgin and retaliated with a sweet burn. A good heel would have sold the insult and came back with one better, not cry to their boyfriend about it. Bully Ray should know this considering the shit he used to come out with back in the day. Absolutely bizarre story. EDIT: Okay... maybe I have spoke too soon. He MAY have gone way too far with the heckling/abuse. I still don’t agree with intimidating him backstage. No need for your edit. Your original post was absolutely right. This is a case of heels who can't deal with fans giving them actual heel heat. It's a sad state of affairs for the wrestling business when heels can't take fans yelling at them. No matter what is said, it's wrestling, it's a show, it's all in fun, you're one of the bad guys, and the fans are supposed to yell shit at you and you're supposed to yell shit back at them. It's honestly your job as a heel to take whatever the fans yell at you and respond to it. If you can't do it, you shouldn't be a wrestler.

He committed battery on international TV and easily could have gotten the company sued. He should have been shitcanned. Nah. Someone hit him from behind, and he reacted. Zero reason for "shitcanning" him.

If there is a line, that Bully Ray of all people is the one to enforce the laws and determine what what is and isn't acceptable in heels getting heat, is the most ridiculous part of all of this, considering all of the vile and disgusting things he yelled at people over the years.

I’m gonna lean towards being on ROH’s side here. The second he said he wasn’t trying to make the show about him, he totally was.
These are just feelings based on what he said, but he seems like the fan who attends every show and screams shit and the wrestlers yell back and the guy think he’s in on it now and helping.
I’m 60/40 on ROH’s side.

I will say that I hope ROH can use this as precedent to set a protocol for how to handle this going forward. Not to belabor the point, but this isn't Bully's job, and even if it were, it's not a great look to have him being the one doing it when it's Velvet. It just makes it look like he's using intimidation to implicitly threaten a fan, even if the fan does sound like a bit of a knob, anyway.
I get if you don't want to eject someone if it can be helped, but it just makes it look like Bully's on a power trip on the outside looking in. All the more reason there ought to be rules to prevent this Mickey Mouse bullshit.

It's kinda horrifying how quickly Bubba Ray turned everyone against Ring of Honor.

It's kinda horrifying how quickly Bubba Ray turned everyone against Ring of Honor. I think he brought his own problems, but he also highlighted existing ones, like relying far too much on Jay Lethal and the Briscoes, and Delirious's dried out, exhausted booking strategies.

Jump the barricade and shits on

Bryan Alvarez has confirmed the fans version of it is 100% what happened on Wrestling Observer Live. So no he didn't do anything out of order.

who knows either way? ![](https://www.rohwrestling.com/sites/default/files/styles/roh_slider/public/del2.jpg) he has a long ass beard. its kinda hard to miss that Then again, he is the rare wrestler/booker who puts himself at the bottom of the card so people forget he exists.

It's kind of mystifying Bubba openly admitted he had the guy brought to the back in the way he did.
Like, even if you're having the most casual conversation in the world...you still had a bunch of your guys escort a dude into a back area where fans are never allowed (usually) without explaining the situation to him and confronted him. It isn't a good look. This is the type of thing gangs do, or something you'd see the mafia do in a movie.
And I'm highly skeptical how nice Ray was to him. Knowing what we know and knowing what we know about Ray, I feel if he was it was more he was being "nice" to the guy so he had the classic defense he essentially uses in his tweet. "What? No, I wasn't intimidating the guy. I was just being nice to him."
Again, fan may have crossed some lines but Bully and by extension ROH made a bigger mistake in the long run.

Don't forget taking too long to give Dalton Castle the World Title, hell, any singles title.

Bully Ray blocked me for liking Joey Janela’s tweet on the matter. Has to be the reason why since I didn’t comment or like anything else related 😂
My take on the matter: if the fan was being bad enough they would’ve just ejected him, there’s no need to bring him backstage and chastise him. It’s either bad enough to be removed or it’s not. That’s a bad look. Also wrestlers should not spit on fans.

Like, there are only a few examples possible for where I would've forgiven the spit. Like in theory if the 'C' word was hurled at Mandy Leon, then I'd be inclined to say something like "I'm not exactly going to shed a tear for a fan that uses a word to that level." As it is, the words the fan said still don't seem spit-worthy or backstage-worthy. Although I've softened my stance towards Velvet Sky here actually. I won't blame her if she was genuinely offended by the stuff the fan said. I would think any women's wrestling talent would go backstage and tell either the head of the organization or her mate about it. They just so happened to be the same person in this case. AND that person just so happened to also be Bully Ray. I'm ok with a fed ejecting a fan from an arena if they use very terrible language (even towards a bad guy heel). I'm still not ok with spitting on them or the "let's go for a ride" approach Bully took. I will say that I hope ROH can use this as precedent to set a protocol for how to handle this going forward. Not to belabor the point, but this isn't Bully's job, and even if it were, it's not a great look to have him being the one doing it when it's Velvet. I was there but also pretty far from the situation. I was in section 111 so the guy was to my right and I couldn't hear what was being said. I wasn't paying very close attention because I thought it was standard heels bantering with a loud fan nonsense. I saw Mandy get in his face then after the spit flew my mom who has never attended a wrestling show in her life and only watched WWE on TV said, CAN SHE DO THAT?! After that Velvet continued to argue with the guy and seemed like she didn't want to even walk back past the guy to exit. I joked that Bubba was Velvet's BF and the guy better calm down. Then the guy disappeared and I thought he had been ejected, shortly after he returned and was explaining what happened to the people sitting around him and rubbing his neck where I presumed the spit landed. After that the guy went back to enjoying the show.
What is strange to me is I was sitting directly in front of a guy that DID GET EJECTED FOR BEING TOO DRUNK AND REFUSING TO SIT DOWN AFTER MULTIPLE WARNINGS. He was ejected and warned by event security and NOT ROH Officials. The guy was super nice and really into ROH as a product. He was there with his GF and 2 other friends all of which were really cool. He just was drunk as hell and would not sit down no matter how many times he was warned and was thrown out right before the main event. No warning from Bully or any other ROH personnel. Only Viking Hall event staff dealt with this guy. After his ejection event staff came back and told the other 3 he had been ejected and it was up to them if they went with him or stayed. They all left.
Also for what it's worth I've met Mandy and Velvet at separate times and both couldn't have been any nicer, especially Mandy.
