They didn’t say who it was because the investigation was ongoing but basically...yeah, narrative wasn’t what we thought it was. More people probably now know about Naughty Dog's corporate culture as a result of wanting to find out why any employee would be disgruntled with the company. Even if (though?) it wasn't a disgruntled employee who leaked portions of the game, the leak itself still provides an excellent opportunity to talk about the labour culture of video games, and specifically how a company like Naughty Dog contributes to the problems of crunch, scope creep, and the lack of middle management organization that are endemic to a lot of game studios. That should be a win for all gamers. Oh no, this stuff still needs to be discussed regardless and it felt like a good opportunity to do so.

Wow, dev kits must be so easy to get hold of. And getting the data must have been so easy for someone who has nothing to do with Naughty Dog or Sony as well. Glad we can all sleep safely in our beds now. Can't wait to discuss the plot after the release date.

Yea, TLOU2 is somewhat lucky because they were on schedule and only had to delay it a month but even with this month off you see the game getting leaked and spoiled that could possibly hurt it Still don't see how PS5 and the new Xbox is coming out this year

I'm going to hold off on this. I'm already on blackout from the leak, but I know I'm playing this game and I know that no opinion is going to temper me from it (unless the consensus is like a 3/10), so bring it on.

I didn't care for the first one much because I thought it was pretty generic post-apocalyptic stuff (you're telling me that MAN...is the true monster!? ) and I'm not into the whole genre of "dad stories", but this one has me a bit more intrigued. The whole leak situation honestly got me more interested. Also, for whatever I may think about Naughty Dog games being bland, they're wizards when it comes to what they can get out of a console so that's always fun. I might have to check this one out. I'm also considering replaying the first one to give it another chance.

Yea, you need to replay the first one because while man is monster it presents in a way that you question which is better And unlike games where the threat gets lessened or sidetracked, the clickers, bloaters etc are always still a threat and treated like one

Revisited the game and played Left Behind for the first time. My opinion hasn't changed much. The gameplay is really uneven and usually kind of boring, peppered with moments where it feels great and tense which makes it all the more frustrating. The story itself is 90% a hodgepodge of every zombie and post-apocalyptic movie/show that you've seen, not good or bad, then stops right when it gets truly interesting. I think that's why I'm interested in the sequel despite having my misgivings about the first game. Joel and especially Ellie are good characters and I want to see where their relationship goes from that ending. I'm also looking forward to seeing Tommy again, I like him.
One thing though, I don't know how conflicted we're supposed to feel about the first game. I think the intent is they want you to think that Joel is not a good guy, but then they make damn near EVERY human character except the protagonists and maybe Marlene outright cartoonishly evil, and with Marlene and the rest of the Fireflies they come off as grossly incompetent, so it's hard to feel conflicted whatsoever about what happens in the last hour, other than Joel lying to Ellie.

Gameplay wise you can feel how you want to feel but idk what you are getting at with Joel
No one is a "good person" and Joel is not the exception but there is that invisible line between him and everyone else you come across. He obviously took that turn when his daughter died and that is established from the beginning. He is a broken man and only gained some of his heart back through his interactions with Ellie and what it is like to be somewhat a father again.
You're not supposed to feel conflicted about the characters but the situation. Marlene had a point in saying one life lost could save potentially everyone though because she was dishonest about this whole thing and how cold she was to just let Ellie go like that after almost raising her, it makes her come across as uncaring person though she is willing to make the "hard choice". Joel, he wants to find a better solution and has grown too attached to Ellie to have her die in something that possibly won't work. He took the selfish action of deciding to save Ellie life over a possible cure because he doesn't want her to die
The big thing is the lie. Joel knows what he did was wrong and if he told Ellie the truth her survivors guilt would been worse than ever. When confronted on it he doubled down on the lie so you know if Ellie ever finds out no matter Joel reasoning, she is going to feel heartbroken. That's the dilemma

TLOU Remaster came with my PS4 when I got it and I have to say that outside of Ellie being gay (and that wasn't established until the DLC), nothing about this game stands out to me. It's the most average critically lauded AAA-type game I've ever played. Like, it's fine. It's not a bad game. But I can't really call it great either.

Maybe it's because I haven't played enough zombie survival games, but I found myself enjoying this game a lot when I played it. The first game, I mean. The same could be said about Days Gone, because I enjoyed that one a lot, too. So I am not sure about it being basic like others had stated. Of course, that is their personal viewpoint and I respect it. I mean I didn't go into this expecting Dead Rising, which I am a fan of, because that is more over-the-top.

When confronted on it he doubled down on the lie so you know if Ellie ever finds out no matter Joel reasoning, she is going to feel heartbroken. That's the dilemma Plus there’s some subtle nuances there. David at one point mentions his group having women and children, and it feels like a way of him trying to con Ellie, but later on in his town you do hear a female voice in the background talking about moving the children, so he wasn’t entirely being dishonest even if obviously he’s a very unpleasant character on the whole. Though on gender it does feel a little odd that with Naughty Dog’s progressive views (shown even further in Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy) the only human female enemies are those you encounter in the earliest sections of the game.
