I'm so confused why the Rockets would even want this. If Chris Paul wasn't working in a James Harden-led offense, why the hell would Westbrook be any better? That's an even worse fit, if anything. Westbrook is a worse shooter than CP3 and needs the ball equally as much as Harden Yes, you got a better player in Westbrook tho you're spending more on Westbrook contract than CP3 if i'm not mistaken This is a head scratcher. Both guys have to change their games to accomodate the other and idk if either will be willing to do so. Harden has basically gotten Howard and Cp3 off the team due to not getting along with either. Brodie had both KD and PG13 leave him. This is either going to be so damn good or a car crash ready to happen.

Trade to Miami didn't happen as Houston swooped in. From what was said, Presti was playing hard ball and wanted most of the young talent Miami had, so I'm happy Pat didn't go for it. Even if it would've made the Heat more relevant "in the moment" that would've been a terrible decision. Scratching my head how a Harden/Westbrook/D'Antoni team is going to look.

The more confusing part to me is why OKC would want this. CP3 is the most unmoveable contract in the NBA and even though he has declined over the last season his physical skills have not regressed enough that you can count on him to help you tank in rebuild mode. Westbrook for all his warts is still an elite talent, getting an overpaid all star level player in a dump where you give up an overpaid slightly above average PG seems like a good deal for The Rocket's if they are in win now mode.

So this is the return the Thunder got for PG 13 and Westbrook...
2021 MIA 1st (unprotected) 2021 pick swap 2022 LAC 1st (unprotected) 2023 MIA 1st (top-14) 2023 pick swap 2024 LAC 1st (unprotected) 2024 HOU 1st (top-4) 2025 pick swap 2025 pick swap 2026 LAC 1st (unprotected) 2026 HOU 1st (top-4)
Plus a good young PG and potentially two trading chips in Paul and Galinari

Well in this case the Thunder can have their cake and eat it too They got a shit ton of picks from other teams to build on but for right now in the next year or two they have a borderline playoff team. Best case scenario is CP3 gets a step back and becomes a trade asset. Gallo and Adams are on the block this season for sure

The big question is not gonna be how are they gonna get along
It is...Who is gonna throw the first punch between he and Harden I got money on Russ
And way to go Houston u traded one shitty contract for another shitty contract that you will be stuck with after no title this season to.

Both Westbrook and Harden pushed for the trade and the reunion You would think both would get along but yeah I ain't buying that shit until I see them play. A lot of things have changed since they was on the same team

Marcus Morris signed with the Knicks
One year and $15 million. He said it was no disrespect to the Spurs, this was just a better move for him and his family right now
He might make like another million thanks to this deal but I assume the comfort in the East played a part. Now he doesn't have to move West (at least for now as he will be a trade piece later)

Well, that's officially an end of an era for me. With Westbrook's trade, there's no member on the roster left from their first season or Finals squad.
Interesting that Chris Paul gets to return to the city that he began his career playing in, though.
This certainly has me readjusting my expectations for the season, too. They're probably not making the playoffs this year, not in the West at least. If they were in the East, they'd still have a shot of sneaking in, but nah.
I also like that SGA gets a chance to develop under CP3. Having him develop under Westbrook would have been a disaster.

Trade to Miami didn't happen as Houston swooped in. Let the destruction commence!

Daryl Morey looks like the type of guy who runs a NBA team like it's a fantasy basketball team. And to no one's surprise, he does. Westbrook is a disaster on that squad, but 2,000 possessions a game, so maybe it doesn't immediately fail.
Super glad Miami avoided making that mistake though.

I think with this team they are about a 41 win team which has them falling a few games short in the West I do expect them to rally behind being underdogs and probably get off to a decent start but falter against the big name teams. Getting Robertson, Schroder, Adams, Gallo and CP3 off the books in the next 2 seasons is key. Hell, due to their picks they could trade one or two to force a CP3 trade elsewhere but that would be one of my last options. SGA will learn a lot under Paul. Now, they need to find other young pieces to put with him I don't think they are done doing trades though. They have been adamant about getting under luxury tax cap. I know they have to be a little upset this didn't happen at the start of the free agency when teams had a ton of cap

I wanted to see Westbrook, CP3, and Harden on the same team because that'd be a shitshow waiting to explode and extremely entertaining when it did.
