Tonight's the consolation games, and the Pacers absolutely shat the bed.
I still don't know why they drafted Goga if they didn't know how to handle visa issues, considering they just now got him stateside today.

Grayson Allen really is the new Christian Laettner except without nearly as prolific a college career as Laettner had. Yeah, he's Laettner without the talent at either level. Laettner was dirty, an asshole, a bully, but he could back it up on the court in college. And he did have a long career in the NBA. Allen's all of that, just without the talent Laettner had.

According to OKC, they're actively shopping Paul now and Miami is interested for a Butler/Paul combo, which could be as hilarious as Harden and Russ really... but it would add yet another dynamic duo, if it happens And OKC would probably get another first round pick out of it and a young player or two, shit is insane, they will probably get thrashed this year but they have set themselves up with the mother of all stockpiles for the future, whether it's for future trades or drafts This is probably one of the most fun free agencies of any sport in awhile. I mean CP3 to Miami isn't a bad move That is going to cost you way less. I'm giving you Winslow basically as an added bonus when I don't have to and i'll give up Waiters and Johnson. First round pick for CP3 seems a bit much, maybe a protected one but nothing more then that. If anything 2 2nd round picks could suffice

Even Shams noted that OKC has all those picks to "incentivize" trade partners for Paul. Don't think I'd go that far, but it's weird to hear someone so far up note that Presti might give an asset away -in addition to- CP3.

Rockets was and did do the same to get rid of CP3. OKC could do the same, because I highly doubt they get a pick for him At this point it is a matter of who wants him and what they can get back

With all these tandems in the league now, we could do real life NBA Jam.

Laettner's dirtiness was overstated. He was a prick, but he wasn't very dirty. Allen is just a shithead, constantly finds ways to be dirty. They're both white dudes who played at Duke with a very hateable face, but that's about where the comparisons end. Their games and dirtiness are very different. If anything 2 2nd round picks could sufficeΒ I'd imagine one of Olynyk or Dragic could be a target for both sides. I think Dragic is in his last year, so OKC would love that. Olynyk has a couple. Not both though, because that would mess up Miami's cap down the line. I could see Waiters, Dragic, and some fillers if they try to keep Justise. It would be huge for OKC's rebuild to get some cap flexibility with expiring contracts, and turn Westbrook's albratross into 20 mil or less cap responsibility 2 years down the line.

Itβs going to be a game of haggle but if the price is right then Miami will pull the trigger. CP3 contract is still trash but in for a penny, in for a dollar with a CP3/Butler tandem Keeping Herro and having a Center like Bam Bam would already give them good pieces to held put around this team as they will need to complete the squad with some bench players

Anthony Davis won't wear #23 next season, what number is Davis going to wear now? Are the lakers going to have to (Highly unlikely) unretire a number? Delay an number retirement ceremony for a year?

He's a cornerstone at this point, given his talent and their real lack of depth in the frontcourt. Herro and Winslow are the guys who may end up as casualties.

I'm saying Herro and Bam Bam stays as foundations for Miami Herro should stay, but who knows? They might get overly eager about trying to contend the next 2 seasons. I think Herro is good, but I'm not sure if I could convince Riley he's good enough to not push more chips in on the short term.

It doesn't super matter, as the season is still months away, but Herro can't be traded for 30 days since he just signed his rookie scale contract. It could easily work like Wiggins/Love though, where the teams just wait and get it done later in the summer.

Making a prediction on what # Anthony Davis is going to wear next season: either 99 (If the Lakers haven't retired it) or 45 in memory of fallen LA Angel of Annaheim Skaggs

If it comes down to Herro I can see Riley trading him Ultimately, the Westbrook deal was way too pricey but they should find common ground on CP3. If not, Miami can still play the waiting game but Jimmy is not a young guy either so a move will come within the next season or two
