Given the inescapable way that world events have impacted the NBA playoffs, we've decided it's ok to discuss some of the circumstances at play here, so long as we keep it to the NBA thread for now.

I just ask you to keep a few things in mind, mainly to address other posters respectfully, address the real life situation respectfully, as well, and please avoid overt partisan politics; the situation can be talked about without turning into "this or that politician is the devil" or whatever, so please use common sense and decency.

I fully appreciate the tension inherent here, been feeling it myself today as much as a decently well-off white guy can, so I want to give some leniency but just ask that you help make clear that was the right choice.

NBA thread has usually the same amount of consistent people posting in this thread so we do a good job in policing ourselves and this thread has never gotten outta hand

Good on the teams today and hopefully they do the same tomorrow. The Brewers/Reds game was postponed for the same reason tonight so props to them as well.

It's frankly going to be interesting to see how the season continues after this, and how other things might be impacted ike AEW, not tomorrow I don't think but like the other four rescheduled Dynamite's they already made for the Playoffs might have to change again.

Given how the season looked when it started in the midst of ongoing US tensions, it was safe to say the virus was not going to be the immediate issue with this season if something happened to escalate those said tensions again... and unfortunately it happened, and now they go from here.

I'm kind of amazed I had never realized the extent of what happened to Sterling Brown. He wrote about it last month for Players' Tribune:

The city of Milwaukee wanted to give me $400,000 to be quiet after cops kneeled on my neck, stood on my ankle, and tased me in a parking lot.

But here’s the thing: I can’t be quiet.

I rejected the offer because I have a responsibility to be a voice and help change the narrative for my people. In order to do so I have to tell my story, so dialogue and conversations about police brutality can help influence and change a corrupt system. It goes deeper than me just illegally parking.
