And now it's moved on to other sports: Brewers/Reds not happening tonight as Milwaukee refuses to play, Cincinnati refuses to take a forfeit loss. I'm following the Mets game and Dom Smith both took a knee and sat out tonight's game, as well, so I'm sure there's many more around the league.

Doesn't look like The NHL are postponing games as of this moment, saw they'll be addressing it in pre-game and such though.

Orlando originally wanted to play, but they also refuse to take a forfeit victory. Very classy move on the Magicβs part to understand the magnitude of the situation right now. Yeah, really makes me proud of my favorite sports team that as soon as the realized what the Bucks were doing they said they wouldn't take a forfeit and left the arena.

Classy move by the Magic, especially considering who owns them.

The Clippers/Lakers were the only teams to vote to boycott the rest of the season. Unclear what happens next.

Lakers and Clippers vote to boycott the season, and walked out of the meeting. The rest of the teams want to keep playing.

What a f***ing twist that would be if Lakers and Clippers basically just take themselves out of the playoffs and Dallas and Portland take their places.
If that was even possible of course.

If the Lakers and Clippers opt out, even with everyone else continuing, this is a tainted season. Portland and Dallas also I would think wouldn't accept moving on in a forefit, so what do you do? Dig the Suns and Pelicans back up and retry?
Like this is pretty bad for the NBA, all that talk from Silver and it's all falling down around him and the virus has nothing to do with it.

It's time to resurrect the Suns, Grizzlies and Spurs, give Dallas and Portlant time to rest and resume the playoffs?

Apparently there's concern that if they end the season the owners will opt out of the CBA in October and then there will be a prolonged lockout because of Covid. At that point they'd want a serious reduction in salaries for all players...
This could have massive ramifications.

Their league is a) not even playing games in the United States and b) Nearly 70% of the players are foreign. Itβs a very America centric issue. Anyways, I love the NBA players doing this! I hope they emerge with a very clear set of demands. This is a form of actual disruptive protest that can go a long way. Makes me happy to see all this.

You have people using their voice to speak up about a massive issue, and you come across looking like it's about money and that you don't back the players in this. Can't happen

I find it quite interesting that boycotting/protesting throughout modern history, especially when it comes to money or the status quo, seems to generate the most negativity from the upper class.
That's the whole point of it. Don't use the CBA in this instance because the players not playing tonight and possibly beyond is the result of the CBA. Zero percent. The NBA is roughly 70% black players and they face this injustice or the threat of it even as high profile as they are (see: Sterling Brown, Thabo Sefolosha as the two most recent incidents of police violence -- against NBA Players!).
I've said that this is an asterisk season due to the circumstances and will stand by that. But the players using their powerful voice and seeing that this is a much more important cause than the game between the lines that we enjoy is so damn satisfying to see. Their willingness to do this when they are literally removed from society means a lot to the game of basketball and the world.

I'm happy the NBA is letting them take a stand I stand with them. But I'm bitter they still accept money and cater towards China. LeBron leading the charge in that has still left a bitter taste in my mouth. But I'm hoping once they start here, they'll eventually move on to the China situation

But I'm hoping once they start here, they'll eventually move on to the China situation They've got way too much money tied up in China to come down hard on that. I commend them on taking a stand on domestic social justice issues, but the NBA is still a capitalist entity that's not going to throw away billions for a cause that doesn't personally affect them or their players.
