I am divorced and haven't suffered much for it but I can virtually guarantee you that not having ever been married would be better.
At least five figures better for me at any rate for just the wedding. We didn't have any assets to split.

This thread is really sad. I'm sorry that you all have had horrible experiences, but that's not always the case. If you go into a relationship or marriage and think the worse, I feel bad for you. I must note that I remembered an old friend of mine used to give me a lot of shit for not dating or having an active sex life like he did (I was also in the V-boat at that time, too), and I also remembered when he talked about how people we went to school with will be married but I will be all alone. A mutual friend of ours had gotten married and he has three kids. The aforementioned friend had gotten married as well, while I was the single one of the group. Later on, both friends had gotten separated and/or divorced. I remained unmarried (Though I had dated here and there). As messed up as it may sound, I think I was in a better situation the whole time.
