Going to my 20 year HS reunion in a few months.........
As a guy in my late 30s it often surprises people that I've never been married. Well to me better that then getting divorced possibly losing half my stuff and then having to start over. Seen and know people younger to me been married multiple times.
Eh no thanks only plan on doing it once if at all.
Which is worse? Never having taken the leap or taking it multiple times?

Divorce sucks. But get a good pre-nup and you will be ok.

Divorce isn't fun. Thankfully mine wasn't anywhere near as bad as some. Both myself and the former Mrs. Schlapowitz were level headed adults throughout the entire process. It sucks that it ended, but most of it was great while it lasted. I certainly wouldn't trade the good parts of it for anything.

Why is it bad to not ever have been married?

I haven’t been married. I came close a couple times but I was thankful things didn’t work out before we made that kind of commitment. It’s not the commitment that concerns me. I’ve had several friends that have gone through divorces. Some more than once. It’s not pretty, it’s very expensive and it’s usually sad stuff when kids are involved. I wouldn’t want to ever go through one.

We're all on different paths and I think these two situations cover too many scenarios to determine one to be somehow more desirable than the other.

The one that's worse is the one that's not right for you.
No, seriously. I'm so over people saying what's right or normal, like life is one size fits all or something.

I remember that episode of "Master of None". Where Aziz starts to feel like a creep, because he's in his 30s, never been married, no kids etc.
But by the end of the episode he realizes his friends are mostly in loveless, sexless marriages with bratty kids.
Bring a creepy single guy is the lesser of two evils.

Divorce is a negative experience in many ways obviously, though the actual act itself can be a good thing under particular circumstances, but I don't see how having not been married in the first place is inherently a bad thing unless the concept is important to you, and even then that's kind of in a strictly abstract sense if you don't have someone in particular you're serious with.

My dad's parents got divorced when he was a kid. My parents got divorced when I was a kid. My dad got remarried...and divorced again...and is in marriage #3 currently. My mom got remarried, and they're good.
A friend from high school got divorced. I was in my other buddy's wedding, and they're getting divorced after twelve years and four kids together.
I'm 36. I'm not against marriage and kids, but I really don't need it to feel complete or anything.

As someone who really doesn't see why marriage is a big deal any more, because there's very little stigma attached to being unmarried partners, and divorces are more common than ever, I'd happily tell people I've not been married. No negatives at all, from where I'm standing.
Not being married doesn't make a long term relationship any less valid or important.

I regret every single moment that I was married. I would do anything to have those few years back to do over again.
I will never, ever get married again. I think this will eventually become a problem with my current girlfriend, but I have been completely honest from the beginning that I will not get married or have kids. I have no problem being in a relationship for the rest of my life, but it will never be made a legal matter again.

Plus, guys get absolutely shredded in divorces.
The divorce rate is constantly around 50%, women initiate divorce about 80% of the time, and the courts are stacked against the husbands/fathers.
Yeah, sounds like fun. I'll pass.

I'm interested in a very close friend who doesn't want marriage or kids.
She also doesn't want to date me.
Almost perfect

Getting divorced, I'd imagine. Pain in the ass and there's nothing wrong with not getting married so...
