I’m going to see it today. Don’t think there is anyway I won’t enjoy Leo and Brad chewing scenery like bubblegum. That’s worth the price of admission to me. Absolutely. They’re by far the most prominent characters and do not disappoint.

I just got out of the theater seeing this, and it was pretty damn fun. Leo hamming it up? Here’s my wallet.
It drags a bit in spots, there’s a lot of time spent with these characters driving around. I get it wants to build up atmosphere, but it does feel lengthy at points. But it held my interest more than Hateful Eight did on average.

It had some major flaws (it felt every bit of its 2.5 hours, Margot Robbie didn't have a whole lot to do other than dance and look pretty) but overall, a very entertaining watch.

I liked it. It felt like we were building towards one thing, then got something else altogether with several of the story arches that develop in the movie.
Brad Pitt is fantastic - he stole the show for me, more than Leo (who was also incredible).

Loved it. The Manson family scenes were just so goddamn eerie. I didn't mind the plotless feel personally.
Stay for the end credits scene.

I f***ing loved it. But not until the absolute last moment of the film. It’s a slow, acheing, pull of a film but at that end, I felt absolutely satisfied in such an entrapping flick. My friends and I struggled as to how one could describe it. It’s got a little bit of everything. And Quentin feels so..free. So able to do what he wants, and take as much time as he wants. Such well weaved scenes of comedy or suspense or action, etc. and an amazing credible supporting ensemble cast. The movie lives and breathes on its performances (all of which are nailed, including the f***ing dog). Very much feels like watching a play. As I guess his other flicks do too, but man they don’t make films like this anymore. I found myself getting impatient at times but all the same time relishing the landscape and time period, which I didn’t personally experience, so it was fascinating to witness and done so well too. And Leo and Brad kill it. My friends and I, who have acted on stage, just went on and on and laughed, particularly at Leo’s performance. We’ve all been there as actors as ridiculous as it f***ing is. It’s hilarious. He nails it. A performance from Leo like you’ve never seen before. Just great. Without too much spoilers, {Spoiler}{Spoiler}that last “thank you for asking” is such a satisfying sweet arc to his character that really drives home how great of a performance it was. And brad is f***ing great being Brad. It’s been great seeing him grow and change and mature as an actor. So funny. Seamlessly. which he has shown off before. And for saying like 15 years ago that he was going to stop working out, the guys in great shape. Loved the whole Bruce Lee bit, including that actor. People in my theater were crying out about his character towards the end which shows how much he (and that great dog) endear themselves to the the watcher. Phenomenal flick, man. Again. I didn’t feel it until the end, but it’s like a movie I haven’t seen before. Loved it.

Even though the movie really felt its length, I loved the two long stretches in the middle with Leo filming the Timothy Olyphant Western (beautiful casting there) and Pitt taking the Manson girl to the Spahn ranch. They were almost movies within the movie and it was great that we didn't cut away at all.

So just saw this, naturally since I'm a Tarantino mark. Interesting, fun flick. I'll have to see it again to really digest it. A lot of people, myself included, were worried about it taking place during the Manson murders. Well, it has very little to do with Manson at all. There's a backdrop there, but the movie is mostly about Pitt and Leo's friendship and primarily about Leo being an aging actor whose best days are behind him and coming to terms with that. It's one of Tarantino's slowest movies in that there's not really one driving plotline; it's mainly about these two guys lives. Won't say much more so as not to spoil it. I liked it. And it leads to perhaps one of the best twist endings I ever saw :-) And.... The Screen Gems "S from Hell" jingle appears and is credited! Ironically heard at the Manson compound. Hey! Anna-Kat from American Housewife! Now I also saw a Nicholas Hammond in the credits. Same as Spider-Man?

I'm glad to know that the Manson murders are not a focus. I was really interested in this movie, as I haven't been interested in Tarantino for a long time - the setting of late-60s Hollywood looked like it could be a lot of fun - but I have no desire to watch movies that delve into Manson and his cult. Not only is it NOT a focus, it ends in a way we all wish it really did.

I've grown apart from Tarantino's fanbase over the past few years and I didn't really like Hateful Eight in spite of really liking Inglourious and Django. That said, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a blast. I think it did an excellent job immersing me in the environment before the finale. DiCaprio should be the favorite for Best Actor (depending on how Tom Hanks does in his portrayal of Fred Rogers). I'm not in a detailed review mood right now, so without saying much else, this was an enjoyable watch that stands out among other movies released this year, and should stand the test of time. The Screen Gems "S from Hell" jingle appears and is credited! Ironically heard at the Manson compound. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this! I'm sure the licensing rights were easy to obtain, it being a Sony/Columbia film and all.

Now we wait for the "Tarantino knows about the Closing Logo Group" theories.

Saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it. I’ll need to see it again to really appreciate it, which is usually the case with me and Tarantino. But Leo and Brad were entertaining as hell. {Spoiler} That entire closing sequence was f***ing bonkers. I completely lost it when Leo walked out with the flamethrower.

I enjoyed it but don't think I actually liked it, if that makes sense. There's scenes of brilliance that make it worth a watch, particularly the ending and Cliff's scene at the ranch. Cliff Booth is one of my favorite Tarantino characters now which only makes me wish this would have been structured a lot tighter. I'll watch it again down the line and maybe my opinion will change, but a good half of it felt indulgent in the worst way.

Watched it a second time tonight and possibly loved and enjoyed it more (wasn’t as tired). Surprised my Girlfriend liked it but she found herself really enjoying it and said it was an “immersive experience”. And shes dined at one of those restaurants near the end, she got a kick out of that. And also further blown away by Leo and Brad. Might be my favorite Leo performance ever. Can’t really think of one I liked more. Maybe Departed. And I need the soundtrack like now. That California Dreaming cover.

But I did NOT expect...THAT. :-) Like I said, bet a lot of us wish reality played out like that (my friend is a distant relative to a Manson victim, so.....) And perusing IMDB reveals that yes, the Nicholas Hammond who played Spider-Man on CBS IS in this movie. Forgot to mention how much I loved the Bruce Lee scene as well. And besides the aforementioned Screen Gems reference, there's a LOT of geek out moments and little details for fans of classic TV and movies. (I squealed practically every time you saw a billboard mentioning KHJ or KTTV, for instance)

Well, there is graphic violence at one point. Though it goes pretty cartoonish too, i.e. it's graphic but it's WAY over the top, so it depends on your sensibilities I guess. If you've been put off by violence in his other flicks, it's there in this. Unrelated, but it's always funny to 'spot the feet' and see how many times he throws his fetish in there. The way he does spot the feet in this particular film is CLEARLY him being self aware and poking fun at the trope. As for the movie itself; f***ing loved it. Currently 4th in my QT rankings (Basterds, Pulp, Kill Bill, Hollywood, Death Proof - that my top 5 right now) Pitt and Leo are amazing and amazing together. The way he plays with the idea of the Manson family and (spoiler?) makes them look like total jobbers is great stuff.

It's weird in this reality how Cliff was married to Natalie Wood. Interesting little detail.

It's weird in this reality how Cliff was married to Natalie Wood. Interesting little detail. Did they say that? Cause then given what we find out about him, it suggests what QT thinks of Robert Wagner perhaps??? Oh and, "I'm the devil! I'm here to do the devil's work!" "No, I'm pretty sure it was something stupid...oh yeah, Rex!"
